Pretty sick that we have like a 30% chance at a top 4 pick. Honestly playing next season in Toronto and a decent free agency and draft were a 45 win team. Plus if we get a nice few rookies it’s not like the cupboard will be bare

In the 7th we get gold, in 8th you get Stanly Johnson.

I mean, we also have about a 48% chance of moving down, not what I would call great odds. And I don't think it's guaranteed the team will be able to play in Toronto next season, there's less than 5 months for the border to open up.

In previous years focused on winning, we lost games we could've won. This year we won games we could've lost. It is what it is. It would be great to get in on the Top 4 but there will be stars at #5 or worse that will be better than one or more of the Top 4.

For example, gems that have been drafted at the #7 slot: Murray (2016), Randle (2014) and Curry (2009), to name a few. Masai is reputed to be a great judge of talent, hence trusting that he will find that superstar talent no matter where we land in the Top 10.

It would've been very, very tough to be worse than Cleveland/Minny. And that would've yielded a 42% chance at top-4 and a 56% chance of dropping. Toronto tanked as well as can be expected.

Finishing at 7th when you consider how BAD 6 was is amazing.

Awesome tank job by the team. No way we could’ve been any worse. I think we’re like 10-30 since COVID hit us. To have lost 7 extra games would’ve required a 20 game losing streak (and probably a fine or two by the NBA).

What’s unique about this tank is we know we would’ve made the playoffs if we tried to compete. Tankers usually decide between being bad or being awful. We chose to be awful over being mediocre.

Anyways at a bare minimum we’re a 45 win team next year. We hit the 50+ range if we keep Lowry, get a decent starting C, and a lotto pick that can contribute off the bench in the second half of the season.

We have a 31.9% chance of a top 4 pick. (8.5% @ 4th, 8.1% @ 3rd, 7.8% @ 2nd, 7.5% @ 1st)
19.8 % chance to stay at 7.
34.1% chance to drop to 8.
12.9 % chance to drop to 9.
1.3 % chance to drop to 10.

A 51.7% chance of dropping.
A 19.8 % chance of staying at 7
A 31.9% chance to move up.

Lotteries are exciting but we have a greater chance of moving down than we have moving up.

I admire your optimism, not at our lottery chances but that you actually think the Raptors will be playing in Toronto next season. There is zero chance of that happening

Jeremi Grant and Pascal putting up identical numbers but Grant seems like a more efficient shooter.

Yikes
Sure, their numbers are pretty identical if you leave out REB+AST+TOV and the efficiency all comes down to three-point shooting, where Siakam has really struggled this season. That being said, Siakam actually has the marginally higher eFG%.

Grant: 22.3 PPG (56 TS%), 4.6 REB, 2.8 AST, 2.0 TOV
Siakam: 21.4 PPG (55 TS%), 7.2 REB, 4.5 AST, 2.3 TOV

Grant got off to a ridiculous start in the first half of the season (23/5/3 on 57 TS%) before falling off (21/3/3 on 53 TS%). Overall, Siakam had the clear advantage in basically every area but a slight disadvantage in scoring (less than 1 PPG and a difference of 1 TS%).

I think there's a chance with vaccinations picking up and restrictions already being lifted for the vacinated, it's possible

It's close enough, the real number of dropping to 8 or lower is 48%ish

They already cancelled the CNE which runs into September and is outdoors. And then less than 2 months later they’re going to allow people indoors into Scotiabank arena? And that’s without variants popping up in the fall that are vaccine “resistant” which means everyone has to take new and improved vaccines. It’s not happening. Maybe in the spring but I doubt it.

At the rate US is returning to normal with vaccinations and we are not keeping pace, Canadian federal government shouldn't have excuses to deny Raptors or any other professional team/league from playing in Toronto if they want to next season. I know they have shown to be hypocritical and far from competent (not naming names to avoid from getting too political) so I'm not ruling it out but I would be beyond pissed if Raptors are denied from playing in Toronto next season. It would be typical of them to deny people who are doing everything right though while they haven't been able to control the border from those who aren't through this pandemic.

Return to Toronto Raptors
