Here is a proposed 3 way deal with Mavs and Spurs:
To Raps: Poeltl and Trey Burke
To Mavs: Dragic
To Spurs: Powell, Raps FRP and Mavs 2RP

Mavs get Dragic who they have been after, and unload two contracts that will hurt them next year when they start paying Luca the supermax.

Is Powell enough of a replacement for Spurs?

I like that deal. But for the Spurs, they'll need our FRP rather than a 2nd, to part with Poeltl. No way Spurs take 2 2nds and Malachi for Poeltl.

Question is who will pay that asking price. Contending teams don’t really need him. Tanking teams don’t want him. I don’t see spurs as being particularly motivated to move him either.

if we do grab a C I think we lean on experience for a playoff run, and have someone Precious can play behind & learn from

I don't love Poetle but it makes sense. I like Myles but the price is too high. hopefully there's someone else under the radar we aren't thinking about

Maybe a 3 way:

Nets - Boucher, Birch, Burks/Kemba
Raptors - Claxton, Joe Harris, Kemba/Burks
Knicks - Dragic

And maybe picks are involved

This would only be if we LOVE Claxton and think Joe Harris will bounce back, as we lose Boucher AND the 10M non-tax MLE so the bench would be Burks or Kemba at PG, then Harris-Claxton-Achiuwa and our 1st rounder and a 3.9M BAE guard or wing
Where's the D?

The Toronto Raptors were being floated (again) as a potential suitor for Simmons, but the Raptors have made sure it’s known in league circles that they did not offer Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby for Simmons. A Raptors deal for Simmons appears like an extremely remote possibility at this point.

The Phoenix Suns have taken calls from the Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons, Washington Wizards, San Antonio Spurs, and Toronto Raptors for young backup Jalen Smith.

J smith. Under the radar move. Those are the type of deals we are gonna target.

I'd be down for a Jalen Smith type acquisition that's the type of move that make sense both short and long term. I remember we worked him out in his draft year.

Saw a few posts from fan sites but nothing in terms of solid reports.

Be a great signing.
High on Mo Bomba but or JP, but this level of signing is far more likely. Though I believe the team would only be able to offer under 5 million after this season...

I wonder what it takes to trade for Smith. He's probably not going to fetch a first, but they won't just give him away either since he's useful.

Didn't realize he played so many minutes for PHX.

Does PHX have any longer term contracts we could take off their hands? They need room to pay their guys.

EDIT: Maybe Saric? Doesn’t feel like PHX has enough expandable salary to make a Dragic swap work.

I’d think they’d take Boucher. They have room under the tax this year. Boucher is better for this year for them. Strongly doubt they would try to being either back next year anyway.

Folded into a Dragic trade might make sense because Phoenix is going to have tax concerns next season and beyond. They would like to move Saric’s salary for next year. They might like to get out of the Cam Payne contract too.

Something like Dragic, Boucher, Malachi for Payne, Jalen Smith, Saric, Kaminsky and a 2024 1st would a good trade. They’d stay under the tax this year barely but create room for next year and maybe see this as an upgrade or neutral this year on the court.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

I think LeVert won't do what they think he'll do for them. But nice to see the Cavs going for it. Will the Pacers keep this momentum going and sell off Sabonis and Turner for more picks?

Cleveland really wants to make some noise

I still think we can overtake them in standings

legit pick up for Cleveland - I see it as solidifying their position but not overtaking MIL/CHI/MIA.

Return to Toronto Raptors
