We can still fill that last spot after march 1st, provided they are still eligible for the playoffs.

The players just need to be waived before the date.

There hasn't been much discussion on these guys being bought out, so they probably spend the rest of the season with their teams. I can see us just converting Champagnie to a regular contract.

Why would Gary Harris agree to a buyout? That would kill his Bird rights. John Wall ain't giving up $47M for next year and Bledsoe has $4M guaranteed too.

a Wall buyout is completely unrealistic IMO. He has a $47M player option for next year, and no team will pay him anywhere near that much money.

Here’s a thought: OG ANUNOBY TO THE HAWKS

Atlanta is a minor tweak away from becoming a legit championship contender. They have star talent at the 1 and 5 (Tray and Capela), and could really benefit from a big wing defensive anchor who can score. Some of their talent can be consolidated (eg Okongwu can be cashed in, since Capela is good at the 5). They want to win now.

We have many talented forwards but no good Centers. Anunoby is great, but with Scottie Barnes and Siakam, we can cash him in and rebalance the roster with newer high end talent, to peak in ~2ish years from now.

There are actually 2 deals proposed here. Open to tweaks

Deal #1:
OG Anunoby, 2022 DET 2nd (~31st)
for
Onyeka Okongwu, DeAndre Hunter, 2022 ATL 1st (assume nonlotto, 15-17)

Deal #2:
OG Anunoby, Khem Birch, 2022 DET 2nd (~31st)
for
Onyeka Okongwu, Kevin Huerter, (assume nonlotto, 15-17)

Thoughts? In this case, we have ATL getting the perfect 3rd star in Anunoby who can anchor a wing defense and also drop 18ppg.

Atl actually owns a bunch of picks, so there’s different permutations you can try.

How would you design such a trade?

I think you are underrating the value of Onyeka.

Don't get me wrong, I would do both of those deals but I just don't think you can get those packages.

VanVleet, Trent, Barnes, Siakam, Onyeka
Flynn, Huerter/Hunter, Thad, Boucher, Precious

is already a much better team than right now and you get a mid first round pick to add another quality player.

I think OG is a guy you likely hold onto till the fates of FVV and GTJ are sorted.

Offer the MLE with max raises to Jalen Smith. :D

I'd rather invest in him (turning 22 in 2 weeks) than paying Chris Boucher (29).

for sure. all we know is that Suns can't sign him for more than low sum amount. we can live with both for now.

He's on the Pacers and doing really well in a handful of games but still.

Oops I knew that. But yah same idea we can offer more than the team he's currently on.

So Sixers are releasing WCS (forgot he was on there) to sign DAJ. WCS was on a 10-day. Is he no longer playoff-eligible, having been released after March 1?

thank goodness the Raptors said no. Pozingis is injury prone and has a massive contract.
