Pascal also seems to be growing as a leader. He leads by example in his work ethic but he also knows how to praise his teammates in a way that should encourage them. You can see how some players, particularly Barnes, look up to him. This is a big turnaround from a couple of years ago when people were critical of his attitude and his apparent lack of maturity.

Pascal was pushed into a #1 role too early. Many of us expected him to stumble. Now he's looking way more comfortable.

taking that step on and off the court is huge

As Ujiri said, he's a guy that he'll go to battle with any day in and out

The only knock on him, before the injury, was his free throw shooting.

Well since coming back... he's 23/27 - shooting 86% from the FT line. He was a perfect 7/7 tonight!

He rightfully will be Toronto's sole representative in the NBA ALLSTAR game....

I think that was always incorrect, anyway. Even when he was at his worst he was routinely the first guy off the bench waving towels when a teammate did well. He's always seemed like a super positive bouncy personality. I think where he's probably grown is by being a little more vocally demanding. You can see he's starting to rip guys on the court when they're out of position (especially Boucher and Barnes). It was good to hear he led the player's only meeting.

and if you are leading the DPOY discussion as the number 1 steals leader while averaging 20 points and 6 rebounds you will be an All-star too

Superstars make players around them better. What did you see last night? Siakam is an all star but he's not in the elite category until he meets that first criteria.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

Pascal is on the brink of wasting his prime with this sorry squad.

At his best last year, and first 10 games this year, he was making teammates better in the sense of making a lot of great passes. He creates well on the fast break too. Last night was different because no one else was hitting, and some didn't even want the ball down the stretch.

What? The dude puts up 7 assists per night and single handedly lifts up our offense by 8pts. He is literally the only player on our team that gets other players easy looks.

I don't know what people expect when some of our best shooters have been off for most of the year, especially lately. We're getting FVV and OG good looks that they've just been bricking since Siakam came back; they're a combined 23/85 (27%) despite almost all of those attempts being open/wide open. Being without two other solid shooters in Porter and Juancho for most of this stretch makes things even harder. Then you add on the fact that Scottie has been going through a bit of a slump (very inconsistent effort while shooting 5/22 on 3FGA in the last 7 games) and it's no surprise we're struggling lately.

To say Siakam doesn't make his teammates better is wild though. He's averaging 25/9/7 on 58 TS% while our offence is 7 points better with him on the floor. Scottie (+15 TS%), GTJ (+10 TS%), Boucher (+8 TS%) and Thad (+5 TS%) have all looked significantly better whenever Siakam is on the floor with them while OG and Koloko's numbers are very similar. The only player that has looked worse with Siakam on the floor is FVV (-5 TS%), but that is almost entirely because of this current stretch where his shot just looks off.

He is miscast as an elite player.

Don't get me wrong, he is a very good player.

It's Fred who doesn't make teammates better. A PG is supposed to do that, but that's why he was moved off ball to start the season

So basically, he is an undersized Point God masquerading as a 2 guard.

I had it flipped around all this time.

To be fair our best looks are Siakam/Barnes taking on as the "PG". We just need to condition our offence to look at those 2 for bailout shots instead of FVV as that is probably his worst trait is taking late shot clock shots. But really it because he is the only guy on the team who does not shy away from those big moments (rightfully, or wrongly).

Siakam/OG/Barnes just need to be aggressive and demand the ball. All 3 can be way to passive.
