Lou Williams isn't a bad comparison to be honest. He was a very late pick out of High School and really exceeded expectations in a more defensive era.

The constant Maxey comparisons is setting up the kid for failure with the high expectations. We got these two for OG and Precious...

An inch taller and about 20 lbs more than Lou Will. Better 3 pt shooter and has a floater game. And the Potential is there!

It wont even get to this point since IQ and the Raptors will have 12 days at the start of free agency to agree to an extension. Most teams use up their cap space within the first few days of free agency since its very rare to poach a coveted RFA. Even if the Spurs have cap space and make an offer after 12 days, the Raptors can just match it.

I think teams know Raptors will do whatever it takes to re-sign him, unlike the Knicks....they might stay away in that case, or they can be petty and make the Raptors pay more than they would like, but I feel like there's an unwritten agreement that you don't do that unless you want the same treatment in return down the road.

Raptors have been generous to the Spurs so I don't think they want to ruin that relationship.

Both undersized microwave style scorers. The few times I've watched Quickley (including yesterday's game) I thought he'd be a more willing playmaker, 6+ assists type of player which would set him apart but I didn't see any of that yesterday.

In a word, defense

This is ultimately my worry, putting too many expectations on the kid and not everyone can use that as fuel and motivation. Sometimes it has the opposite effect. I think if he becomes a solid 20PPG scorer it'll be a win for the Raptors future dependant on if Barnes continues to grow into an All-NBA player.

Lou was a turnstile on defense and a much worse playmaker, assists aside. Quickley also plays more in the flow of the game whereas Lou is getting his every time.

Teams probably know we’re gonna match so they won’t waste their time tying up their money and wait for us to match when they could be chasing other free agents

Also I think San Antonio is gonna look to get their PG of the future in the draft. They’re probably gonna take Topic

he averaged 6 assists when Brunson was out. He wants to be a better playmaker as well, I wouldn't draw too many conclusions from 1 game.

He said he molded his game after Lou will during his rookie season.

You didnt watch much of IQ in NY he came out gunning every game. Most 6’1 guards are bad defenders regardless most guys dont see them as they shoot

lou williams was bad at defense who couldn't hit threes. it limited his game very much.

I see very little similarities between Lou Will and IQ, and that's a great thing
