Lmao I was waiting for someone to blame Masai. Not surprised it was you

The inability for some of you to be able to take a joke, is honestly shocking.

Then again, I'm not surprised of the people making said comments and +1ing them.

It’s not about people not being able to take a joke, it’s more the fact it was you that was making it given your bizarre and frankly, unhealthy obsession with Masai.

When I clicked on this thread I was expecting it to be about Jontay Porter. I did not expect someone to try and turn it into a Masai thread.

Sadly, that's every thread for some on this board.

Is this real?

I know it can't be real, but I still have to ask...

The lines are off, one could easily bet 100 units on a lifetime ban and 20 units on no suspension + maybe 10 units on suspension less than a year and walk away with risk free money.

He's either innocent, banned for life or something where he told a friend information he shouldn't have, but didn't know it would be used for gambling purposes.

Definitely. At least some have come out and flat out said they don’t even try to be objective. They are just going around posting memes. At least I can appreciate the humour.

The memes and jokes are actually funny. The bitching is just exhausting to read.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

Bruce Brown is probably mad now that he could have gotten his number for free just waiting a bit

This upset me a lot more than it should have. The raptors have been desperate for one of these small wins after striking out on all our small moves/draft picks the last few years. Masai even mentioned Porter by name in his press conference when referencing the need to get better with finding guys like him. He's not exactly some hidden gem but he felt like a guy that could really ball for this team for a few years and he was enjoyable to watch.
Really disappointed.

It's upsetting because it's SOOOO disrespectful to his teammates and fans. Its beyond selfish What a chump

Jontays reaction to a accidental three reminds me of this: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1915207465513886

Jontay probably turned that 10k into a 100K within a week.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

I don't understand what you're sending me. Stan Van Gundy is a colour commentator he isn't supposed to shout over Harlan there. Are you speculating that he was betting on the game?

Also, I agree what Jontay did is disrespectful to the game, teammates, fans etc. 100% but the league opened this can of worms. THey're shoving gambling down everyone's throats, this was bound to happen.

Ya...I was really pulling for Jontay before this. His story overcoming career ending injuries and playing well enough to stick with an NBA team was inspirational. I never saw him as more than an 9th man but even at that he would have stood to make millions if only for a few years. He already won the genetic lottery being 6'10 and being able to put a ball in a hoop with potential to make millions by being able to stick with a team. But then he does **** like this.

What a **** idiot.

What would the worst case scenario be for Jontay Porter?
I mean, I wouldn't be opposed to bringing him back if possible after whatever the league throws at him...

Giving young players second chances would look good on the organization.

I think the NBA might have a bigger problem on their hands

Worst case would likely be banned for life (and possible jail time). The league absolutely has to at least try and show to the general public that they are taking this seriously and a low level player like Jontay is easy to make an example of.

the 3 pointer stands out as most damning to me. Jontay hit a 3 in about 1/3 of all his games this year. Why would you make a very large bet on something that could go south on just one common play if you didn't know it was a winning bet?

And much as the NBA is idiotic to promote gambling so much, it's also idiotic to bet on yourself when you have a chance to sign even an NBA contract, which would likely mean at an absolute minimum a couple million bucks, with the real opportunity to make 10 or 15 million in your career if you can prove to be a decent bench player for a few years.

You never know though. Could potentially be more to the story, maybe even a Donaghy type situation where the mob - or just some other gangster of his acquaintance - was leaning on him. Or maybe he did it to help someone. Or maybe he was just dumb and greedy.

That would be overboard IMO.
An entire season suspension would be apt, and repeat offenses leading to lifetime ban seems more applicable.

Show of hands if anyone is surprised by multiple players being in on this?
