I don't subscribe to any streaming services right now. What do I need to do to watch Raptors games? I'm open to setting up IPTV, but they all seem really sketchy to me.

do you live in canada? if not, then if you subscribe to nba league pass (i think $109.99 USD for the season) so you can the entire league, including the raptors.

if you do live in canada, then toronto raptors games will be blacked out so you'd have to find another way OR sign up for a vpn and use another country when signing into nba league pass so you can stream the raptors.

I've tried the VPN method before and I don't exactly recall the details, but it didn't work. Is that still a valid method?

VPNs at the TV level are a pain in the ass and require WAY more effort than it's worth. VPNs at the PC/phone level are easy, but I heard that they stopped working with league pass a while back and it's based off your location, and where the sign up was from. But I can't say for sure, haven't used LP in years, cause it sucks

VPNs for League Pass technically work, but from what I remember, you need a credit card from the country you are trying to sign up in.

Last year, after moving to Japan, I was able to use a VPN to sign up from South Korea (surprisingly way cheaper), but only because I still have an address and credit card there. When I tried countries I had heard were cheap (I think I tried Argentina, Thailand, maybe a few others), it wanted a payment method specific to that country.

After that, it doesn't seem to matter what country you watch from.

The app for GoogleTV is terrible though. Whether you choose "watch live" or "play from the beginning" it just does whatever it wants, and its often not clear which. The web-based viewer is not much better. One of the clearer examples of enshittification I've seen. It was straight up better 10 years ago.

Ah yeah, that's it, it was the billing address of the CC used. And yeah LP has gotten worse year by year.

I'm thinking about setting up an IPTV as well, but is 4K or High def available in those?

The best I've gotten for sports is 1080, only 4k channels I've gotten haven't been for sports unfortunately.

Hey all, kind of late to the party, so pardon the redundancy….

Why did the NBA give tnt the cold shoulder— their legal claim sounds as though it holds some ground.

…why didn’t they just phase tnt out gracefully over a few years.

Like why not give Amazon 75% of the games and tnt 25%.

Make tnt build amazons infrastructure and slowly poach their people….

Yah know what I mean?

It would be nice to have affordable, legal options as well. IPTV requires research to find the right service, and some tech literacy to set it up.

When MLS/TFC went to apple TV I simply stopped watching.

Nba might force people like me to do the same thing.

Paying for cable is more than any of the streaming services multiple times over. Hell, prime video is 3$/mo for the ad free version lol. And I'm not sure what you're watching the games on, but their "4k" on a 65+ in TV looks awful.

I get what you are saying about having to pay for the streaming services, but unless you are doing over the air stuff, you're gonna pay one way or the other. At least streaming can hit actual 4k.

I actually get super super low (bulk rate) for cable and internet from rogers, through a group. I get all the Rogers and Bell sports channel included (except TSN+ Streaming).

My experience with streaming in the past was that it was not reliable.

The average person is paying like $200/month for cable. Some condos get bulk discounts, but people in rental units and single homes pay the full price (unless they're willing to negotiate).

Prime costs $10/month (and you also get the benefit of free, one-day delivery on Amazon orders). Netflix is $17/month. Disney+ is $15, Apple TV is $13/month, etc. Even if you're interested in all of this, it's still way cheaper than cable. But the nice thing about streaming is you don't need to pay for all the services, just the ones that interest you. I'm not sure how much extra sports will cost on top of the regular monthly subscription (if anything), but I bet it'll still be less than $2400/year for all your subs.

My experience as of jut the other day is it works, when it's available and not buffering. For example I watched can-mex soccer (I obviously don't have fubo or whatever) and it dropped between 75th and 85th min. Image quality was worse than cable for sure, ok to watch on phone but even on laptop not so good, a bit choppy.

And I have the Rogers Gigabit Internet, my Internet connection is not an issue.

What iptv do you guys use that won't let you down during the game, and has true 1080p (in my post above, connection was 1080 I think but certainly not as good as the cable 1080p).

Concurrent with this agreement, WBD and ESPN have agreed to enter an innovative partnership. TNT Sports will continue to fully create and produce Inside the NBA, with its iconic studio show being distributed on ESPN and ABC. Beginning with the 2025-26 season, Inside the NBA, the recipient of 21 Emmy Awards, will air on ESPN and ABC throughout the regular season and NBA Playoffs. TNT Sports will also continue to develop new content for air on its WBD platforms featuring TNT’s Inside the NBA studio talent including innovative programs such as an “Inside Sports” show currently in development for next season.

Associated with the agreement between WBD and ESPN, TNT Sports will now televise an exclusive slate of Big 12 football (13 games each season) and men’s basketball (15 games each season) starting with the 2025 season. This builds on TNT Sports’ agreement with ESPN to present the College Football Playoffs with TNT showcasing a pair of First Round games beginning this December.

Additionally, WBD has been granted live NBA game telecast rights in the Nordics (Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden), along with Poland and Latin America (excluding Brazil and Mexico) for the next 11 years. In connection with this live game telecast package, WBD will provide broad reach, local language commentary and promotional opportunities for the NBA’s marketing partners.

“Together these agreements ensure fans will continue to enjoy TNT’s Inside the NBA and create tremendous value for our entire portfolio as we accelerate the growth of TNT Sports, Bleacher Report, House of Highlights and our global sports business,” said David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery. “We are pleased to partner with the NBA and Disney/ESPN, and to have solidified long-term rights and revenue for WBD.”

“The opportunity to continue the iconic and Emmy Award-winning Inside the NBA is a huge win for basketball fans everywhere,” said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. “We look forward to building on our longstanding partnership with TNT Sports and working together to promote NBA content across key WBD and NBA platforms.”

That’s great news. Was wondering why they don’t just sign those guys to deals but looks like they are going a step further and acquiring the whole show.
