You care to explain why? When JO was healthy he was the same inside-out player as Bosh with slightly less athleticism but slightly better D.

well this past season's plan didn't work out that well...so I think this plan (with JO) is better than last year's.
IMO, better frontcourt > better backcourt

Horrible horrible trade for the Raps. We'll be lucky LUCKY (!) if JO plays 60 games next year and It's unlikely that he will. And we traded basically our only three tradeable assets for him. Great.

The best part of this deal is the thought of trading O'Neal when his contract expires. How sad is that?

pretty discouraging if he did (and I think he might have, not sure though, and can't remember the Davis trade at all other than people thought it was a steal)

It depends how highly you rate TJ. Personally, I don't rate him all that highly.

Smallish, injury risk, not a great shooter or defender, maturity level not where it needs to be to lead a team far in my opinion.

This gives Bargs 2 years in which he can develop into a superstar centre under basically absolutely not pressure at all. After two years he'll have his game, his shot, and O'Neal will be gone and they can sign a superstar 3 (D'Wade?) and have a dynasty of their own.

Great move.

I'll believe it when i see it, and as soon as his knee goes and Boshs whatever flairs up were lottery crud again. The Trailblazers will be welcoming their newest fan

Raptors have never signed a top flight Free agent, just throwing that out there.
Andrea Bustani speaks the truth, never slurps every move the raptors make.

Andrea Bargnani 08-09 stats - 7 points 2 boards on 39% shooting
Jose CONderon 08-09 stats - won't be as good as TJ 5 star General Ford

Excellent trade guys. TJ Ford is one hard foul away from forced medical retirement. You get to dump the Rasho contract in the process.

Even if JO's knees don't hold up over the long term - he's only on a 2 year deal. So if next summer he turns out to be a complete carcass - you can dump him on the next sucker looking for cap relief.

To be honest, this is even more than I thought we'd get for TJ. The concerns over his injuries, maturity, size, and defense are all well documented. Also, a #17 pick really isnt that big of a deal. Its almost certain that whatever player we picked up at that spot would not be a contributer this season.

No question that this move improves our starting rotation and goes a long way to helping patch up some of our greatest weaknesses.

Finally, Id say its better than 75% chance we end up with a pick tomorrow whether it be first or second. Late firsts and early seconds can probably be had pretty cheaply and are fantastic ways to fill out a roster.

How is it unlikely he will play 60 games obviously the trade was made knowing his knee is fine or else he wouldnt have done it. Reports ive seen Jermaine states his knee has never been better and its back to how it used to be. Playing with Bosh also and Bosh playing with him can only raise their play

Except for the Iverson trade, yes. Philly at least got two picks and Andre Miller. NJ gave up nothing for Vince. One of the worst trades ever. The Baron Davis trade was for Speedy Claxton and Dale Davis so that was a great deal even though Davis had injury concerns. And the Gasol trade was obviously awful for Memphis.

But this trade? Not only do we give away our best tradeable assets and a pick, but we're getting back a very real injury risk and a terrible contract that is gonna be hard to dump.

Chris Bosh has said:

"I think me and Jermaine could play well together...and he can rebound too so I think that would fix a lot of...interior needs that we..uh...that need to be addressed this year."

You can hear this on tsn.ca - the video clip about the trade. Now I'm not sure if this was asked of Chris when the trade was just a rumour...or if he was asked today.

what gets me is all the people saying he has injury concerns and is one more knee injury away from missing 40 games. Cant that happen to anyone? What if Kobe had a knee injury would people pass up on him no i think this is a good of a return for TJ as we could have imagined the next deal of Business sign Pietrus to the MLE and try to acquire a second tier star like Miller, Gordon

O'Neal is the power, Bosh is the finesse.

Bosh couldn't have said it better.
