Re: 2011-12 Toronto Raptors Trade Ideas Thread Pt II
here's something simple, would you guys do an amir for wilson chandler s&t
amir starts at 5.5 and goes to 7 over the next 4 years for a total of: $25 mil
tough to say what the new CBA will dictate in terms of contract size and length in years but adding a 5th year to it will make it a $32.5 mil deal for 5 years for chandler.
here's what i know about chandler (from living in ny) - he can score, he can attack, he can hit the 3 and he can defend. he really can do it all. BUT you won't see it all every night. he is prone to spacing out a bit and there are stretches where you don't notice him. he is only 24 tho and probably needs to be coached to bring it every night. but that's what would make him available.
what this does is put james johnson as the backup sf...and we'll still have kleiza. but it does give us a more complete player at the SF spot. we can then use our draft pick for a pg or either a project big man. imho, amir and ed are duplicitous and we don't need both as they bring the same things to the table. ed is a bit more cost effective.

I'd prefer to keep Stew and give Monte Morris

Amir is very valuable to our team. I would not look to trade him at all, unless we're getting in another legit big man, and Bargs is being shipped out. Bargs is the big we need to trade.

Bargs for TWill+Thabeet+#23?
#5- Kanter/Biyombo/Val/Knight/Walker
#23- Nogueira/Tyler/Bertans/Jackson/Selby
+
Thabeet/Alabi
Ed/Amir
James Johnson/TWill
DeMar/Barbosa
Bayless/Jose
We open up another 0.5 million in capspace, get the #23 pick which we can use on a young prospect (which one will probably vary depending on how our #5 pick goes--personally I'd want to draft a big, but even one of the PGs works too), as well as taking fliers on TWill and Thabeet, who at the very least fit some positional needs and have some sort of upside, and have team options for subsequent years.

if they absorb Klezia with their TE too then id do it. I dont think that deal works though straight up.
Knight / Bayless
Derozan / Barbosa
Johnson / Williams
Davis / Johnson
C / Thabeet

^^ If works if we use 2.4mil of the TPE to absorb TWill, or at least according to trade machine. Of course if we could get Kleiza included, I'd love to do that (unlikely though given his injury status).

that doesnt make sense though. You absorb T-Will and Thabeet has to match Bargnani. It would be 2 separate trades, 1 being T-Will for TE, 2nd Thabeet for Bargnani which doesnt work and thats why the ESPN trade machine is confusing. The team it doesnt work for is Houston. With Bargnanis TK it doesnt work but if he waives it it does. Both Thabeet + T.Will have a salary that = 9,350,000 (after X 1.25 + 100,000 rule). Bargnanis salary next year is 9,250,000 + 5% TK

I like this trade a lot. I think Houston apparently is having a hard time getting star players to play for them, and Bargnani is not a star but he provides a good offensive punch for them. Raps get a few decent young pieces to be part of their rebuild.

This deal would makes me smitten if it happened. Props bboy, you're an asset to these forums bro. I love your posts. They make me happy as a Raptors fan, except when you back Valanciunas.

+1. This is pretty ideal to me. Would like to move Barbosa and draft Selby with that #23.

lol @ Bargnani with a trade kicker.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars
Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid
There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Just throwing this out there. BC has 2 years to show some progress. At 5 we might be looking at a choice of Kemba Walker, Valancuinas or Vesely or Brandon Knight. If we were told that before we actually fell to #5 there would be a collective depression by most calling themselves Raptor fans. At number 5 only Knight projects to be a possible allstar if you believe everything you hear. Strong rumours persist Utah is considering Knight at #3 which I think is unlikely but am willing to accept as a possibility. Why not go to Utah with a proposal to send them Knight at #5 for the 12th selection and take someone like Chris Singleton. For our troubles in a separate deal they agree to send Devin Harris for the TPE. At the very least whether subsequent sweeteners need to be added or not we could perhaps gauge their intentions for Knight as bluffing or something closer to reality. If they heavily rebuff us their intention would be to retain Harris meaning Knight is less likely a possibility for them. It also puts a value on that asset right away should we pick him at number 5.

Dunno if I even like it, or if Dallas would do it, but Kleiza/Alabi for Haywood ? Works in the trade machine. Maybe get them to throw in next years pick?
We have a bit of a logjam at the PF/C spot, but it fills a need, they really need to get rid of Haywood, Kleiza is an upgrade to brian cardinal as a backup stretch 4, as well as giving them some more depth at the 3

done, let's see what other fans think (and also if Bargs needing to waive his trade kicker becomes an issue)

For all the remaining Bargs fans, go on the general trade board and see how no one wants anything to do with him. 21 ppg scorers are rare in this league, so just take in how bad he is defensively.

I think it has less to do with his defense and more to do with his rebounding and style of play on offense.

His style of play on offense is fine. He is quite a good offensive player, and 21 ppg on a decent percentage is acceptable. Yes teams don`t want him because he can`t rebound, but his biggest flaw is having just about nil basketball iq on the defensive end.
