Ontario is considering making Peel, Toronto and Ottawa into "hot zones", essentially forcing another lockdown.

While I agree this needs to be done, I don't think it changes much for Peel and Toronto. They can hop on over to York/Halton/Durham to escape the red zone.
Unless Ford is super serial about it and goes full Melbourne Australia on those three regions. And I'm sure the rest of the GTA won't say no to money coming from Toronto and Peel.

Just want to share my experience.
I felt sick Wed night and called in sick to work on Thursday morning. Work told me to get tested. Looked online for nearest testing center with 45 min wait time, turned out to be a 3.5 hours wait. I was number 87. Testing process is too slow. And there is 3-5 day period for results.
Tons of people lined up after me. Driving home I passed another testing center and huge lineup. Weather is getting colder, lining up outside for hours will mean more get sick even if they are only get tested because they came in contact with someone positive and have no symptoms at all.
Oh yea, one more word of advise, you will get turned away if you don't have a Toronto health letter saying that you have come in contact with someone positive. Just word of mouth is not adequate, person in front of me wasted 2 hrs of his life

WTF? I was going to bring my son in for testing because he has several symptoms, and plays basketball with other kids outside from time to time, and I'm guessing they aren't as strict as I'd like wearing masks playing street ball. Don't know whether to laugh or cry about that, but anyhow.... I guess he won't be going to get tested? As soon as his symptoms go away he'll be back playing with others without knowing if he still has a COVID-19 viral load or not. Dumb.

ah man from what i've seen at the courts I would only ask your kid to play 1 on none and if the coast is clear. basketball nets/courts, wherever they are, have been severely overcrowded.
i have to go to some old inaccessible neighorhoods behind some no name schools to get some shots off

You would need a letter (or positive reading on the app) if you have no symptoms and came in contact with a positive case.
If you have symptoms, that's a different story.

My mother went and did the mobile testing with just symptoms (clean thank god).
You’re right - you will get tested even if you have just symptoms and not confirmed in contact with someone.
That would be dangerous otherwise. You could be walking by someone who has it and doesn’t know.

thanks for the write-up... i was sick in march and couldn't get tested because of their testing requirements not knowing what to do with someone who got it through community spread (like i did) great to see nothing much has changed there smfh.
ford government had seven months to prepare and we're no better than where we were in march/april...

Nope you have people in this thread still being stupid. Trump pretty much did everything possible to get the coronavirus. It was just a matter of time, yet some idiots believe that type of behaviour should be modeled for a whole country. No thanks I’d rather not mirror the complete wreck that’s the US.

All 3 world leaders who you would expect to catch the virus (Trump, Johnson, Bolsonaro) caught it.

The guy has all of the best medical available to him right now. At this moment they probably have him on some remdesivir, convalescent plasma and even hydroxychloroquine (his personal request). He won't likely suffer like regular people his age with less access to good medical care. In that case...he will likely have an uncomplicated course then gloat about how having covid was nothing and it's still a hoax.
That’s exactly what Balsanado did, and it was unfortunately effective

C'mon tough guy...show us you are willing back to up your interpretation of the numbers. Until then...stay inside and stay safe. You aren't dumb enough and you are not brave enough to do it. Until you do that and show us evidence of you doing it...then you are no different than me.
If someone told you that you had a 98% chance of winning a lotto for 10 million dollars would you take those odds? Of course you would and you'd buy a ticket immediately. Similarly even though in Ontario they're doing 40,000+ tests daily right now only less than 2% are coming back positive so if I did go down to any random assessment center and asked everyone to cough in my face, there's a extremely high chance that if I take a test it'll come back negative. Even if I did become infected, being a decently healthy person unless I have some condition I'm not aware of, the chances of me dying from this virus is near zero. Heck I'd probably have a higher chance of dying in a car crash while driving to an assessment center to get coughed on than I do of getting infected and dying from the virus.
To put it another way, if you took every single confirmed virus case in Canada which is 163,000 to date and put them all in Ontario, that would still only be 1% of Ontario's ENTIRE POPULATION being infected after all this time. Is that what we REALLY need to be worried about?
The point I'm trying to make is given the choice between having to be forever in fear of this virus and being forced to live under restrictions indefinitely until an effective treatment is found vs understanding the risks and getting back to living a mostly normal life and not continue to destroy people's livelihoods, I'd choose the latter easily. If people feel they are at higher risk of getting sick or dying from the virus or they simply don't want to get infected, then by all means take whatever precautions you want, but don't force EVERYONE to do that when this virus doesn't warrant such a response.

Anyway, people are really getting their panties in a knot about this. People are causing themselves more suffering by stressing about the things they have to do differently. Take some time bro. Enjoy some basketball, shoot the **** with the people on this board. Things will be fine.
The thing is when has that happened? Even at its peak, Ontario still had thousands of empty beds waiting for covid patients that never materialized. If you want to say that's a result of the shutdown that's fine. The thing is right now we're testing Ontarians more than ever at 40,000+ tests per day and less than 2% are coming back positive and extremely few if any of those positive cases seem to require hospital care. So why the need for tighter restrictions when we keep fearing about a rise in hospital cases and yet it continues to not happen?
The point is if we were seeing hundreds of infected people going to the hospitals daily because they needed significant care to survive the virus, then absolutely take more precautions and impose more restrictions. The thing is we ARE NOT seeing that and HAVE NEVER seen that even during the peak of the pandemic here. We keep waiting for sh*t to hit the fan and it never does. In all of Canada if you removed Ontario and Quebec from the stats, that would be 93% of virus deaths gone from Canada's total and the rest of the country would be sitting at about 700 deaths to date. That's how non-lethal this virus is.

So an update guys.
I got tested on Sunday and still no results. I have been quarantined since then however.
My question is let's say I get a positive result does that mean I only have 9 more days to quarantine? Lol

How about simply LOOKING AT THE FACTS AND STATISTICS that are available everywhere that proves you wrong instead of having your emotions cloud your judgement for a change?

I've never really had symptoms, somewhat a 37-38 degree fever a couple of weeks ago but nothing else. I wanted to get tested, but it seemed way too difficult. Aren't we not supposed to gather in crowds and expose ourselves? Let alone to a large lineup of people feeling sick? Forget that. Glad it's by appointment only now.

It's not fear mongering if you yourself are afraid to get infected by a "minor virus" while talking **** on a message board. Numbers and talk mean ****.
You don't want this virus because you just don't know if it ends up being a minor case or it takes you to the ICU and puts you on a ventilator. Old or young...it's happened to people of all ages. It's not like a common cold...a real "minor virus". I've known 20-something year olds and 30-something year olds who ended feeling really sick for over a month with covid. I've seen 30-something year old healthy people with covid in our ICU. Your numbers don't mean **** to these people.
I don't fear monger...but I respect the threat. That's an important distinction.
