Lots of ego tied into people praying he's a dud and its going to come around after every bad game and every little mistake thats made while this kid is developing.

Maybe not you since you're usually pretty level headed about your criticism but I'm sure there are those with a combination of bitterness about the pick and the urge to be right that has them hoping he wont pan out.

They always make loud predictions of a player becoming a bust and accuse everyone of not being able to think for themselves if their opinion isnt shared.

Barnes is already good. He'll capture that upside.

it's pretty hard to see Barnes becoming a complete bust (also I find Frank Ntilikina being a weird comparison for him). His defense and playmaking will mean he'll probably at least be able to give you what Iguodala has been providing to teams in the playoffs for so many years.

Id rather have him starting than Boucher

Good debate on if he should be getting 20 min a night coming off bench or playing 35 min in g league and running the point, shooting lots, and just being the focal point of offence. I expect the ladder will happen for first half of the year or so then they'll intergrate him.

Because he's not going to get that freedom in order to improve especially with his shot. This guy needs serious game reps for his shot. Once they correct his form a bit, he needs to go out and test it. I'm not even saying stick him in there for the entire year just half.

Let him gain confidence in it and really put up some stats and get going,

I think the general consensus would be that it would suck. Masai would get a lot of heat for it, but I think you have to commend him for taking a risk on a unicorn type talent in the top 5 knowing what our developmental system has done with much lesser prospects.

Yeah it would suck but the opposite could also happen - Suggs could play subpar and Barnes develops into Giannis like. It's all up in the air right now and I believe in our FO's scouting and judgment. If they see something in Barnes that makes him a better pick with Suggs still on the table, you can't really fault them for that because noone knows the ceiling for either at this moment and teams draft for the future potential.

Yeah i guess so i really hope that don't happen but i guess where im at right now is i can see the possibility of Barnes being a Bust and when looking at Suggs game i don't really see him being a Bust...I see Suggs even if hes not the superstar..... i see him being an impactfull player (Lowry) type guy and for Barnes there are just so many question marks that its like a scary unknown

If that happens it means Suggs greatly out performed his projections because he doesn’t have Rose’s explosiveness and he doesn’t have Roy’s feel for the game and scoring. It would likely also mean that at least one (if not more) of Detroit, Houston, and Cleveland also missed because I doubt all of the top 3 picks end up as All-Stars.

I think it’s near impossible for Barnes to become a bust simply because he is such a versatile defender AND has a desire to play defense. Even if he bounced out of the NBA, all he has to do is develop a serviceable corner 3 and he can return and have a PJ Tucker role.

Its a moot question. First off if Suggs have the athleticism of rose Gonzaga would have won the national title and suggs would have been drafted first. So no, Suggs isn't some Derrick rose level can't miss prospect. What if Suggs becomes the second coming of Micheal Jordan? How other rookies turn out is beyond our control so why bother punishing urself before ur worst case scenario happens.

What if kuminga becomes kawhi? What if Jalen Johnson becomes Paul Geroge while everyone from 1-19 busts?

Its not like Barnes is a Anthony Bennet pick, he's projected to go top 5 regardless of what holes u see in his game. The only failure from now on worth being looked at is not who we drafted, but how we developed our prospect when they dont reach their potential or our vision.
