I really really love his game as a role player. he's super streaky and may take some bad shots but he is total chaos (for opponents). keeps the Raptors fresh on the court.

I'm thrilled we have a super-duper star in the making on our team again. It seems surreal tbh. Masai doubters can eat a bag of *****.

I think it’s more so the players on the team aren’t great playmakers. Fred is probably our best and even he’s average at it. Barnes is doing as much as he can but his role is different and teams give him too much space that he’s better off attacking to score. Everyone else who gets significant minutes dont know how to pass properly. Banton is okay too but I’m talking about the guys who play 30+ minutes.

Re: PG: Franchise Player Scottie Barnes
If Barnes can reach his ceiling, the core around Barnes is the perfect complimentary players to win a championship between Fred, OG, and Siakam. Even better if we get to a point where we can trade other assets to bring another star. Long ways to go for that. Maybe in 2 years it will be a legit conversation.

Seems Scottie (like many all time greats) is fueled by naysayers.
If you check out his gram, you see a vid of him hitting jumpers repeating out loud to himself "they said he can't shoot".
Pacers' players were likely yelling "brick" or that he can't shoot and instead of being caught up in the pressure of the moment wanted to shut them up hence the shushing (just like he did the Celtics' bench against them).

Fred thinks all those times he was blocked was due to players being allowed to be more physical

Shorten the season to 60 games to compensate for the increased physicality.

I feel like he's doing it to see what everyone is capable of and could actually accelerate this team's growth. Let players make mistakes as long as they play hard instead of having a short leash and being benched for small mistakes or restricting players to a specific role. I think once we have a good idea of every players' strengths and weaknesses, we'll see more defined roles and a less frantic offense leading to a more structured offense similar to our championship team.

I'm looking at you Boucher and Precious.
Fred was pissed at Precious for that play when he tried to go coast to coast and just put up an ugly shot trying to go one against three. Fred was visibly frustrated then was talking to Precious after the play.
Fred was saying that's my job to go coast to coast and force up shots in traffic.
Or shoot the transition 3 which he excels at but I’ll let y’all have the negative commentary.
Fred’s really the new lowry with all this unwarranted criticism. Y’all hated lowry before the championship.

Re: PG: Franchise Player Scottie Barnes
Nurse (maybe even Masai) has a serious decision to make once Siakam comes back. Who gets sent to the bench? Neither FVV, OG and Siakam (eventually) will be benched and will start. Barnes is looking like he's too good to bench, but he's a rookie. Trent, Barnes and Precious/Birch are likely the moves to the bench. The scenarios are:
- Trent gets benched and you go with a lineup of Barnes/FVV/OG/Siakam/Birch. I think this is what is the most likely to happen if Nurse truly believes in Barnes. The issue with this might be 3 point spacing and half-court offense depending on how Siakam looks now that he's back home.
- Barnes gets benched and you go with a lineup of FVV/Trent/OG/Siakam/Birch. This could also happen and Barnes will have to be the 6th man who is the first one subbed in. Barnes is too good to sit on the bench, but he is a rookie, so Trent might get the nod of him. But no Raptors fans want to see this since Barnes is so fun to watch.
- Birch/Precious gets benched and you go with a lineup of FVV/Trent/Barnes/OG (Pascal)/Pascal(OG). This lineup starts your best players you have on the Raptors, but rebounding as we saw last year is an issue. Barnes could play a factor in fixing the rebounding issues we saw when Siakam/OG played centre minutes, but it's to be seen. Also, this would be terrible against any centre that is tall and big (i.e. Jokic, Embiid, Vuc, etc.). Lastly, I think this would also give more injury concerns with Pascal banging with centres significantly taller and bigger than he is.
I think Trent or Barnes gets bench, but either way it's a big decision and doesn't even solve who is going to close games. I think neither Nurse or Masai, like most Raptors fans, truly anticipated how good Barnes is already this early on in the season, even if they say otherwise in interviews. We probably didn't expect him to be this good until mid-late 2nd year or 3rd year. Barnes has pushed the timeline earlier than anticipated. Tho it's only been 6 games. Barnes will be scouted significantly more eventually after 20-30 games or so when teams have more footage of the rookies. Maybe Barnes will eventually cool off a bit and hit that proverbial rookie wall and he will be put as the second unit. We'll have to see, but too much talent is always a good problem to have in the NBA especially if ***KNOCK ON WOOD*** injuries happen

Both times he grabbed it from guys who have ignored him on offense (Boucher and OG). Love it.
For whatever reason the team seems reluctant to pass to him right now.

Fred thinks all those times he was blocked was due to players being allowed to be more physical. No Fred it is just you who thinks you are taller than you actually are and taking bad contested drives. The fact you end up on the floor which is pretty much everytime not mean you got fouled.
When did he say that?
He and others get fouled on every drive. Ball handlers are being crowded and hacked and the defence is getting away with it, that physicality adds up when you’re playing 40 minutes a night like Fred.

I don’t need an excuse he does enough on his own already…
Like someone pointed out I guess he’s mad he’s not getting calls on his o of control drives to the basket…
But if you actually understand how physical the raps play in defense you’d see this benefits then more than anyone else…

Re: PG: Franchise Player Scottie Barnes
Our offence hasn't been near as bad as some are claiming. We have the 15th most efficient offence in spite of scoring 83 points on 30% shooting in the opener as well as 95 and 97 points on ~40% shooting on the 2nd half of B2B games. Our solid TOV% (14.8% and 15th) and ridiculous OREB% (34.5% and tied for 1st) coupled with our defence that forces the 4th most turnovers has let us capitalize on some of the poor shooting thus far (GTJ/ FVV shooting below 36% on 3FGA when both are close to 40% for their careers, Boucher/Dragic both below 25% on 3FGA, OG shooting 40% on 2FGA when he was at 58% for his career, etc.).
If anything, I have been impressed and pleased with our overall offence despite some subpar shooting percentages from our top shooters. We're winning mostly because of our defence (#7 DRTG), but our offence has generally been pretty average aside from the opener. Can't complain with that when it was expected we would be a bottom 10 offence from most -- and we've done fine without our #1 offensive option so far.
