Re: 2023 Draft Prospect discussion
Not even sure this guy is draftable given as a 6'6 Junior from UCONN who has a weird hitchy shot, but Andre Jackson is a freak athlete. Reminds me of Keyon Martin Jr., maybe even more athletic as you can see from these clips:
I just respect dude who can defy gravity and hover in the air. Like, they make no sense how they have this kind of leaping ability. Jackson also is a mad man defending and is pretty unselfish with the ball. He might be worth a longer look at this year if his numbers improve to respectability.
“The problem is, he’s a little bit wild right now. The jump shot — I don’t want to say it’s busted completely. The 3-point percentage and free-throw percentage look decent enough, but he has no confidence inspired when he shoots the ball. It’s tough to make it when you can’t shoot it. The sample’s really small, so I think his true value as a shooter is a lot lower than the percentages might indicate. But he’s one of the most versatile defenders in the country. He’s always chasing guys off of screens. You can switch him, he can rebound, he’s really active. Offensively is just the thing that needs to come around. It’s not for lack of effort, it’s just he throws the ball all over the place. He wants to make the right play and get guys the ball, but he doesn’t always pick his spots."

Possibly a Derrick Jones Jr or Stacey Augmon sticking around for a decade but never really earning more than the MLE. Decent energy player off the bench.

I know but I'm trying to say they're in the convo for #1 last year IMO with those top 3

I could see the Derrick Jones Jr. reference. The NBA always finds a home for big vertical athletes.

Agreed, I don't think anyone is sleeping on them
We're not talking about them because we aren't drafting Top 10

Emoni Bates was also #1 projected before playing in Memphis last season.

He's got really good handles. He's like the 6'6 version of JD Davison that can shoot the 3 a bit better. He's a junior transfer so maybe his stock only rises to like Bryce McGowens, Jaden Hardy (tearing up the GLeague) and Max Christie last year early to mid 2nd round.
McGowens doing well in the NBA while Hardy is beasting in the GLeague!

Mavs are going to sign Kemba Walker but they could just play Hardy.

I see him more as a bigger version of Norm, Wade, Donovan type of attacking guard. Not nearly as good of course but he's always putting pressure on the D. Since his team is really nice this year, he should be noticed.

Yeah he's non-stop attacking, with a handle to do it and an insane finishing ability.

Re: 2023 Draft Prospect discussion
GG Jackson Can you imagine OG and GG on the same team?!?!?!
He's still under 18, while some other freshman are around 20. He's score in double figures in each game so far and shooting 40% from 3. He's got good handles for a 6'9 guy even though he's a turnover machine. He could be a bigger TMac.

Oh, Tankathon had him at #22 so I thought we would have a chance. NBADraft.net really likes him and have him at #5. He's probably like a Jabari Smith type prospect.

Unless you’re thinking we don’t make the Playoffs, I don’t see GG falling outside of the lottery.
Also GG was much more an uptempo/transition type of player before college than Jabari who seems to have purer shot mechanics than GG. The knock on GG’s game was his jumper so now he’s out there prove it’s reliable. It was fairly obvious early on than Jabari was a far more natural shooter. It will very interesting to see how GG develops though, definitely would be a type of player they’d like but there’s actually a lot of nice wings in the top 20 or so…

Re: 2023 Draft Prospect discussion
If we think of the long-term core as:
______/Precious or Koloko
Siakam
Barnes
OG
VanVleet/Banton
then really we can draft literally any kind of player and they probably have a path to 15 minutes a night by year 2, which is probably a fair expectation for a good pick like a Trent kind of draft hit and not another Siakam/OG/Powell miracle.

Yet to catch one of his games, but he seems to fit the mold, huh? Let's see if the shooting holds up.
Trevon Brazile is another of these unheralded big wing types... there are going to be some steals in this draft!

I'm amazed you're finding these gems. Brazile does play for a good team but still he's not well known.

He had the biggest dunk of the season (NBA or NCAA) a couple of weeks ago. He also plays for a team with three 5 star recruits. It's not like he's flying under the radar.Kevin Willis wrote:grant101 wrote:BoyzNTheHood wrote:How are we feeling about Taylor Hendricks?

We should keep an eye on him. His body fits the mold, but I'm not sure if he has the guard skills. I haven't watched him enough yet, and I'd like to see him versus better competition. But as of now, he should be on a Raptors fans watch list.grant101 wrote:BoyzNTheHood wrote:How are we feeling about Taylor Hendricks?
