We would be lucky to get one of Daniel's or the Lakers pick. Can't be greedy and say both lol

They ain’t trading Daniels or the Lakers pick unless it’s for multi time allstar never mind both. We gotta start thinking of why other teams would do a trade not just how it benefits us

Do people even watch new orleans. They have no use for fred. That team is loaded.

I have no idea why he is being sent there of all places. It isn’t needed in the slightest. Boucher kind of makes sense. Thad makes some sense as a vet who is from there. OG fits everywhere. I could even see Gary maybe. But Fred makes no sense and Siakam only slightly more especially for what he would cost.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

I dont see many FVV deals out there right now that would make sense for us or other teams at deadline. Likely will have to wait for offseason

not me. Fred is worth 1 non-lotto FRP at his current contract (3 months to FA, playoffs, and downside of player option)

But offseason also dangerous..what if we have a deal with FVV at $114M and it immediately becoming a bad contract if his plays does not rebound next year?

I bet you at soon as Fred gets that next big contract, he is going to opt for that back surgery he's been putting off.

Agreed it is. I just meant they may hope a S and T in offseason brings better offers with teams having more incentive to get better than the deadline.

If no one wants Fred at 23M, who is going to want him at 32M+ (his demand of 4/130M). And offseason S&T costs us cap space - remember Goran Dragic? Don't we intend to compete next year? with 26-30M dead salary?

So either we trade Fred before this deadline or Fred tacks his tail and takes a 26M for 4 years (Brunson's deal) from us or someone else.

We dont know what his demand is. Only rumours. If he accepts $114m, id guess there will be teams to take that risk on him

Bulls (Ball, Williams and White), Wolves (swap Russell for FVV but try to get Reid and another young prospect off them), Mavs (probably a 3 way if another team wants Hardaway) are some possibilities.

I guess Boucher and other offseason signings around the league are now eligible to be traded.

I like a possible deal with the Bulls too. Bulls likely won't tank because they owe their pick to ORL. Ball is likely out for the year which helps the tank. Fred is from Rockford, maybe higher chance he re-signs there. If they're not giving up PWill, then the POR pick is good also.

Jan 15th I believe, so yeah pretty soon. They'll try to trade Boucher I think, but maybe no takers unless he plays better. if his contract gets swapped with an expiring it gives us more cap room to re-sign Fred/Trent without going into the tax (if it comes down to that).

lol
last season Boucher playing out of his mind for his career to not end on a 7M expiring - don't trade him
this season Boucher playing worse on 12M for 3 guaranteed years - let's dump his contract for cap space

As a Bulls fan, I’d want to avoid a fairly oft-injured, small guard heading toward both 30 and a lucrative long term deal. Fred’s tough for you guys. Too good to give away w/o getting value, but not good enough in context to get you anything that great.

Curious on Raptor fan thoughts on a trade I proposed given the assumption your ownership wants to continue to compete.

Raptors out:
Birch/Thad/Otto Porter’s body
2024 top 8 protected 1st (2025 top 4, then none after)

Bulls out:
Vuc

I think you’d want some back channel discussions to establish that Vuc would resign on a reasonable deal, but I think he makes the team better and helps push you into the playoffs.

I see Khem/Thad are getting DNPs and we’d need to waive Otto’s physical.

Raps have the perfect front court to cover for his defensive deficiencies (we do not….not at all). He’s a great defensive rebounder, has re-found his 3 ball this season (I see his 37.7% would top everyone but Flynn), can post a little, and is an unselfish passer.

For us it’s about the pick, and getting rid of a guy who’s expiring and doesn’t fit with our other key players defensively,

Raps should not be using a 1st just to get into the playins this year and make this year's pick worse.

They need to trade Fred....and find out GTJ intentions so possibly trade him too and see what those returns bring back. One of them possibly brings back a C they need. And if those trades result in the team playing better and they make the playins, so be it.

That's a decent trade offer. We get rid of deadweight for next year (20 million).

If the protections were a little bit better and we knew we could get Vuc to come back on a reasonable deal. It wouldn't be that bad. You would have a guy who could stretch the defense and score on mismatches. I haven't watched him in a few years but i imagine you could plug him in for 24 minutes a game.

Add in the fact that you get off those contracts that are basically useless and you'll gain a lot more flexibility.

But I hope and don't think we go for it just because we're not competing for a title and we have a few guys we're trying to develop at the 5 spot. It would help us a lot for this year, but Koloko and precious are hopefully only another year or two away from being able to provide consistent minutes at the 5. If the raptors were to give up future draft picks, I hope it would be for someone they can build with. Not a stop gap vet that turns this team from a bubble team to a team that might win a game or two in the first round.

Raptors isn't giving up any pick for non-star. We are not a free agent destination, we rely on developing young talent in-house.
