My bad, I didn't realize "just winning" was the statement you were looking for, rather than the fact the Celtics were up 21 in the 3rd at the time of your posting.

A win is a statement regardless of the differential when the opponent is the hottest team in the league and you're the defending champs in the same conference. They absolutely did make a statement, especially with how they handled Garland.

Geez, trying to get a straight answer is pretty difficult.
Clearly the Celtics were up 21 in the 3rd at the time you posted.
Boston went on to give up FORTY points in that same 3rd quarter (after your post).
In real time you wouldn't be saying "ya, uhhh, Celtics just gave up 40 frickin points to the Cavs in the 3rd, squandered a 21 point lead, they sure are making a "statement". Because they would be ridiculous.

You clearly thought it was looking like a massive blowout when you posted, and it didn't end up that way at all. C's barely held on to the victory, with home court, and Cavs showed they were no pushovers considering they outscored Boston over the final 3 quarters of the game.

I was so crushed Knecht didn't fall to us. Really an outlier shooter with some muscle to his game.

During the draft cycle I said he could be ROY if he played with Toronto because he just needs an opportunity. Amazing that he found it in LA with two superstars.

Still my ROY pick.

Yeah as he was falling I was like "oh ****, this could be a massive value add. Knecht and Dick with Scottie would be awesome".

I think Boston ended up shooting over 50% from 3 and made like 11 more 3s in a two possession game, so maybe they feel like they made a statement but for Cleveland I bet they consider this a good loss. 7 games of this and Boston would lose.

I hate the Celtics style of play atm.
Unicorn is coming back soon-ish? On the broadcast they mentioned that he was getting close.
He should help a bit (re: the 60 PiP they gave up to the Cavs) even though he's a stretch big.
At least he's an inside defensive presence.

He's having a decent rook season so far, no doubt. He also turns 24 in April, compared to Walter who just turned 20 a few months ago (September). Lakers really needed a win/play-now type player and (so far) looks like they got their guy. Hopefully the same applies to the Raptors.

This warms my heart. Ainge needed 5 first picks for Lauri because he can't draft well outisde of the top 5.

lol, oh wow a moral loss. Big whoop. You clearly thought you were on to something too with the Cavs but they just had a hot quarter. I think you're projecting pretty badly here. They were missing LaVert/Wade but the Celts were without KP too. Unless the Celtics somehow lose Holiday/White they're always gonna be players that will stifle a small guard like Garland as he's always struggled against Boston and they completely abandoned Allen late to go with Niang. Is that sustainable? Are they gonna get Craig Porter going 6-8 as something they can count on too?

The Celtics hot shooting is hardly an anomaly, they're literally the best team in basketball. That's the entire point of their gameplan. They planted their flag. That's the entire statement regardless of margin of victory.

Lauri's numbers are way down this year, not sure what's going on really because the percentages look fine and he's shooting 45% from 3, getting to the line the same but he's taking way less shots out there and his USG rate is down to 21.5, that's 5th on the entire team. It's almost like blatant tanking or something. Keyonte George has zero business taking more shots per game than him.

PG injured again, on the night Maxey comes back.

While it's nice to see the Sixers and Embiid fall flat on their face, I don't think I can handle them getting a top 4 pick. Need a play-in push from these guys.

Sixers fans are already turning on Nurse, calling him a terrible coach. I think he gets fired if they don’t turn this around soon. It’s a lot easier to fire the coach than admit your $200 m off-season signing was a bust and your franchise player is too injury prone to ever lead you anywhere.

Some other their complaint....

Playing Lowry so much
Bad lineups
Team playing with no hustle

Nah, Nembhard is the real deal. They just need him and Nesmith back. But it being in the high teens, low 20s next year in a strong draft will be fine. That's OG Anunoby territory.

Would you guys take Jalen Williams over Barnes or y'all still in denial?

It's still easily Barnes. Williams isn't game planned against like Barnes and other first options are. There are obvious advantages to playing with a superstar like SGA
