He will have to. Gave up a pick just to have him walk. Possibly lose draft positioning this year if he’s healthy and kills it for us. It’s just a lose lose situation almost. But difference here between this and the Yak trade is that he’s likely the most talented player on the roster even more than Scottie. They obviously didn’t have the patience to tank it out this year and dropped out of top 5 already. So at least we upgraded from Scottie via a trade if they were going to screw up their tank anyways.

The Raptors haven’t been good since 2020 and after 5 years of retooling or whatever this was they finally have a core they can try to enter the playoffs with.

Ingram is a legit closer when healthy and having Barnes/RJ/Quickley/Poeltl gives him a decent enough supporting cast to compete in the playoffs.

Only issue is they should still tank away the season so we need to pray they land a top 10 pick in the draft who completes their core.

On paper, it would seem like he's an ideal closer with the ability to get off his shot but the clutch stats have been really bad in his career.

You don't get rid of Barrett who is not 25 yet...a young wing who tries to play defence but gets you 20 points a night...he is worth something.

I get it. It's a buy low play. You can easily move him if it doesn't work and get a 1st round pick back. The real question is how much? We're going to be tied up with a bunch of money in a core that hasn't done anything and with a guy who can't stay healthy.

I'm not a fan of paying Ingram but I get it from a buy low perspective. I just hope he misses the rest of the year and this doesn't screw up our draft position. We don't need jakob 2.0

Going into next year with a high lotto pick and Ingram is a decent retool. We definitely need some more size.

People wanna complain for the sake of it.

We gave up 2 guys that were expiring and not part of our future for a legit all star esp in the east.. who happens to be 27. Ya, he might be a bit injury prone but that's something we've seen our medical staff fix before, dont think we've had a scorer like him in some time, he's pretty un-guardable.

The way i see it, basically accelerated our rebuild by getting a proven star and still have the ability to get a top 5 pick this draft while not losing our expiring contracts for nothing, that's pretty good if you ask me.

The return for Siakam is looking nicer as others have pointed out. The pacers pick next season hurts a bit but i think we still got the better deal.

Also, we got him without giving up RJ, Quickly or Boucher or even Yak. That team can easily be legit starting next season and i think Boucher can still be traded but i wouldn't mind bringing him back.

Move to a year or so from now and we can package RJ or Quickly in a bigger deal for another player or two.. we retained our important assets. People forget we are a Canadian team and this is one of the ways of us getting ahead of the curve cuz you know we won't be given anything.

i don't think you can add further protection to a pick that you have yet receive and has protections from another team, they could have done (2026 lesser first option though, between their own pick or Indy 2026 top 4 protected).

For team who has pretty good at drafting/finding young talent for the most part, we sure don't like to accummate draft assests/and use them to pick player. People talk about we got Jakobe at whatever last year.

Well grab the next Jakobe with 18 pick in 2026, or what happens if that Indy pick is #10 that year. Grabbing a good/decent rookie getting paid 2-3 mill sure beats getting a tier 2-3 star in the same vain as Pascal getting paid 30-35 mill, who can only play 50-60 games.

But it's gonna work with: IQ, RJ, Ingram, Barnes, Yak (With 1 of them never played a full healthy season, and is avg. like 50-60 games a year).

indy pick is top 4 protected, rolls over to 2027 also top 4, otherwise its seconds.

Not too happy about giving up the Indy FRP but not surprised that Pels needed some incentive. Sounds like the Indy pick doesn’t have additional protections? It would be much better if it did.

At least we get to dump Kelly. Might have a slim chance to stay under the tax next season.
