I think we'll hear the Lakers being interested in Occhai soon. I could see them offering Knecht for Occhai and hope we don't do it to save 2 million.

One of Ochai or RJ will have to go soon.

The raps won't be able to pay Ochai and he is on an expiring contract.

Maybe the Lakers will be interested in RJ but they obviously want someone to replace DFS and that is why I think they will inquire about Occhai. But I'd want more than Knecht.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

RJ for Hachimura and Knecht?

I think with the Ayton and other signings they don't have room to take on 5.4 million more than they send out and they probably don't want to move off the size Rui provides. They probably want to get off Vanderbilt's money plus Kleber with Knecht to do that which I wouldn't do unless we received a 1st from them.

RJ for Hachimura and Knecht?

I like the framework. Maybe RJ, Ochai and Mogbo for Hachimura, Knecht, Vanderbilt, 2031 frp, and a 2026 pick-swap?

Knecht it a great shooter with some on-ball chops, Vanderbilt gives us a bigger body when healthy, and Hachimura is a decent player on an expiring deal. The 2031 pick becomes a valuable asset in the coming years we can use to leverage into a trading for a star.

For the lakers, they get the best player (RJ), a useful 3&D player in Ochai, and get off of Vanderbilt's deal (3 years). Mogbo as a cutter/lob threat is a better fit in their offence as well.

We had interest in Patrick Williams so I don't think that part of the deal is that bad. He can defend and make threes, he just hasn't lived up to his draft pick hype.

Ultimately you do this to take on Coby White who shot 45/37/90
60 ts%
52 3par

He averaged 28 PPG in March showing his scoring potential. Toronto doesn't have a scorer like Coby who bends defenses. Quickley isn't nearly as impactful and is a year older, shorter and lighter than Coby. To me, Coby White is the league's next breakout player.

Coby is a upcoming UFA, now you're going to have to give him the same contract RJ has + pay 18x3 for PWill, which will have ripple affects of cap/roster casualties. Coby is good, he's also smaller & probably a even defender to RJ, he's just not that much of a significant upgrade in my opinion.

Again our next move will be a move trying to go upward, not lateral to make our books look cleaner.

We'll be trading RJ + filler + picks for a star SG/SF
Or maybe even IQ + filler +;picks for star PG

We could be waiting a very long time for that to happen, or we get suckered into another questionable transaction like we did with Ingram who was a depressed asset.

I am saying Coby is that star level PG/SG you are looking for, and you have a year to test him and IQ out before committing long-term. You can move off IQ next season if needed, but for this year you have elite PG play. To me, Coby could be the next Tyrese Haliburton breakout playoff star. I just don't see that from RJ and we don't need another year spinning the wheels with him.

Pat Williams is a flat $18m a season deal. I wonder what Ochai's next deal will look like because we have to make a decision there as well? Probably something similar if he keeps his shooting up so he is we are likely going to be paying the same thing for a similar type of player. I actually like Pat Will more because he is a true SF size whereas Ochai is better on 1s and 2s.

That package is not that far off as you might think. The frp will be a low pick. Knecht dropped in the draft last year and was a senior when drafted and hadn’t exactly distinguished himself and Rui is a negative contract.
Wiggins is still a good role player

So Coby White can become Haliburton at age 25 and entering his 7th season.

But RJ at age 25 and a few months younger than Coby and entering his 7th season, .better get ready for the GTJ contacts soon.

Cool

Rui is not a negative contract as a expiring (only 18Million$), with 41% three point shooting, 62% true shooting and just 15% usage, he's a good role player, don't need the ball in his hands, is effective, and does all the little things. He's at least a neutral asset. Unlike Rowan Alexander.

Has RJ ever had a season where he averaged over 20PPG on 60%+ TS and above league average 3 point shooting? Not saying Coby White is the next Haliburton (he isn't because he's not remotely close to the passer Haliburton is) but I get the enthusiasm for him over Barrett. Still a bad defender though, so I'm not sure it really solves our problem, we're better off moving Barrett for expiring and looking to keep Ochai as a reasonably competent 3+D SG IMO.

Just because they offered that to the Hawks, does not mean that they offered it to Toronto at 9.

Very possible that they started upping their offer as teams at 9, 10, 11 turned them down - and they got more desperate to get it done.

If the Raptors did turn that offer down, it’s a huge mistake. HUGE!

Dumars: "After we drafted 7th, we started from #9 and went all the way until we got a deal (at #13). And you don't pull the trigger on the asset next year (unprotected 2026 Pels/Bucks 1st), until you get that deal, otherwise we keep it."

I assume they would have had to offer it to us, otherwise why are we moving down from #9 to #23?

While it is an excellent trade whether you are giving up 9 or 13, at 9 it is a way harder choice than at 13. especially when you are given 5 minutes to change your plans on a prospect you have fallen in love with throughout the process. The fact that Dumars just kept going and didn't modify the protection on his offer as the amount of spots he was looking move up decreased is the shocking part of the trade. Should have taken the trade but if the offers started at 9 then Phoenix, Portland(who moved down anyway, and the Bulls have even more to answer for. Was Portland really thinking Yang Han Sen was going to be off the board @23?

Coby White won’t become Haliburton but he has a much better skill set that translates to the modern NBA than Barrett….

lol lol you see what in saying, it really is a Toronto thing we we undervalue our players & over-prop up other players. I guess it's cuz the US media is always **** on the team from up north
Chicago is reportedly asking for two first for Coby & yet these guys wanna salary dump RJ who really has similar value from a production standpoint, everyone else can quibble about %s / definitely not a significant needle mover.

No doubt Atlanta was in disbelief of that offer.

But don't go "kiss and tell". They should keep that info a little closer to the vest.
Treat it like the robbery it was and don't tell a soul.
