His handle is too loose and high to effectively be able to create on the perimeter. His height is actually a disadvantage in that regard because he has a high center of gravity, and has trouble getting his dribble low to the ground. His handles are good for his height, but not for a SF. That's why I thinks he's a faceup-4 in the NBA, not SF. At PF, he'll be able to use his exceptional quickness to beat big men off the dribble, but as a SF, the quickness advantage in diminished, and his handle isn't good enough to really create from the perimeter consistently. And I think he would have trouble guarding SFs.
That's a legit argument. As a PF he's going to have such an overwhelming quickness advantage. As a SF he's not going to have the same quickness advantage, but he's going to have a huge reach and length advantage. So there's definitive pros and cons to both positions for him.
I like him on the Raptors as a SF because it compliments our cast of players better. But I think he's ultimately going to be better at PF. I think he has a very similar tools to Kevin Garnett when he was 19.
Of course what makes Garnett so special is his insane intensity and that's Perry Jones' major deficiency. I'm not sure without that intensity what kind of player Garnett would have developed into because it was so intertwined with his game.
So what NBA player is Kevin Garnett without the intensity?
