I'd look to do a Calderon/DeRozan deal for Granger during the summer. Use our Top 5 pick on Austin Rivers.

A duo of Rivers, Granger on the perimeter are better than DeRozan/Barnes-Gilchrist isn't it? That would give us a core of Rivers, Granger, Bargnani, Val with J. Johnson, E. Davis, A. Johnson, A. Gray, J. Bayless on the bench.

Throw a 2 year deal at Steve Nash during Free Agency and we could be a good playoff team without sacrificing our future. 2 Fringe All Stars in Bargnani and Granger and 2 future All Stars if they develop enough in Rivers and Val.

Fixed. That's a top 5 seed in the East Guaranteed, plus the kids grow in a winning environment before they are able to take over for real.

Jackson Jennings backcourt?

Clippers would be lob city and we'd be what? Chuck City?

Jennings is shooting a career high this year just UNDER 41% whoopee
Jackson is shooting 36% from the floor (down from 41% last year)

I'm not saying I wouldn't dump Jose for Jennings but any expectation of a Jennings Jackson pairing needs to be tempered with the knowledge that neither guy can hit the broad side of a barn..yet neither guy will stopp shooting

Why even bother with Chandler considering the salary he'll command?

Just do what makes sense:

Jennings/Bayless
DeRozan/Jackson
2012 pick/Klieza/JJ
Andrea/Amir
Val/Gray

Edit: And make sure you trade or buy out Jackson before he reaches the border.

I don't want Granger, something about that guy bothers me to no end.

Sound like Pacers are saying they are poised to poach a player that team want to give up with their capspace. I wonder if Jose or Barbosa could fit there? Id much rather send them west.

Chandler's pretty solid and who's to say we're drafting a Small Forward. What if we luck into Davis or a top 3, 4 pick and take Drummond. Or fall and take a shooting guard like Beal Lamb or River's. Either way IMO that roster with Chandler would make the playoff's for years to come. Even without the addition of our new draft pick..

Granger seems to be a bit erratic, a bit too emo at times, and his max deal is certainly pricey for a guy who isn't a clearcut all-star. A max guy should give you more than a 17.5 PER and more importantly, Granger turns 29 in April, so we might only get 3 or 4 good years out of him. (I really wouldn't want to deal with a third contract for him either, I don't want to be paying more than the $14 million in the final year of his current deal).

Granger has been on the steady decline since 08/09, too, and as his USG goes down the wins seem to go up. Classic tweener, leaning toward a PF, and shooting worse as you get older is not good. No thanks.

If all they're giving up is capspace, it makes little sense to trade Jose, and no sense at all to trade Barbosa.

Why not? If we can unload Jose for capspace and a draft pick from a playoff team thats an awesome deal, and it allows us to amnesty Amir if we wanted to and his roughly $6mil contract

As I said in the other thread IND makes a lot of sense to take Barbosa off our hands and let BC pay a ridiculous contract to Chandler. They even have a couple of smaller expirings if they want to include something back.

I just hope IND doesn't try to force a future 1st out of BC who doesn't hesitate to throw those in.

the only "first" he traded away was in a JO package. the other one was for james johnson. the james johnson one was a steal.

Because if all they're giving up is capspace then we don't get a draft-pick from them, do we?

Still, though would you trade Barbosa for Indy's cap-space if that meant us getting Chandler? That's basically a straight Barbosa for Chandler swap. I'd do that, but I'd hope we could get at least a 2nd rounder from Indiana out of it too.

BC approved sending a first to NYK to get rid of Jalen right before joining the Raps. Then he used a first rounder to get JO. Then he used a first rounder to get rid of JO. That's 3 right there.

Do we need to go over AGAIN all of the players that would have been available to us with those 3 picks?

It's really a good trade for everyone if IND is looking for SG/backupPG help in playoffs. Barbs can steal a game with his explosiveness.

And if Chandler is really BC's target he isn't going to hold out for a pick. Bird has until Mar 15 deadline while BC has only until Mar 1 to sign Chandler. Plus lots of teams with contracts they might want to dump while few with cap space. Which is why I worry BC gives up a pick.

And how much BC will offer Chandler. I smell a Turk size deal.
