Taking Ross at #8 wasn't maximizing the value of the pick -- which another poster articulated earlier in the thread

How do you know that taking Ross wasn't Maximizing value for the pick? He could end up the best player available at 8. Had we traded down he might not of been available. you are talking about projected draft slots based on Draftexpress etc. You have no idea where actual GM's projected Ross to be drafted.

In theory, any player that was available at #8 could wind up being the best player in the draft

Does that mean you would defend BC had he drafted Andrew Nicholson?

It would depend on where actual GMS ranked Nicholson. Based on actual draft position (19) it would have been a huge reach, and waste of value. If we wanted Nicholson we should trade down.

We have no idea where T.Ross would have been drafted had we not selected him 8th. Can't use internet mock drafts (where he slated around 14th) as a means to determine where TRoss would have been drafted..

Why can't we overpay some good players?

Or keep the capspace open so we can trade for someone else's overpaid good player.

good players have other options. If fields had similar offer elsewhere he would take it.
Max players will chose someones else's max over ours every time.
Good players basically chose where they will sign as they have many teams offering them similar deals.

Hence BC (or whoever is raps GM) is always going to have to overpay for mid-tier players and hope they live up to (or outperform) their contract.

So you would rather have Fields and Kleiza instead of 11 million in additional cap space

Why?

Yes, and we need to do it before he trades our 2014 pick as a last ditch effort to win now.

Thats ignoring that hes overpaying for average talent that you dont have to overpay for. Who was lining up to sign Fields? And why were we targeting him to begin with?

Better to wait till later in the offseason to find value when your looking At talent in that range. Jamario moon gives you more and costs less. Over pay on talent thats worth it.

Said this in the Game Thread....Feel like posting it here....

Been a long time fan since game 1 of the franchise. Feel completely deflated losing complete
interest and starting not to care anymore. Thinking about getting a night job so I don't have
to watch games anymore.

The games are borderline unwatchable and excuses are made for players that are clearly detrimental
to the team. I can't take being the laughing stock of the league anymore.

I mentally checked out from the Blue Jays this year and it's starting to happen with the Raptors...

I guess we all have our breaking points :(

How can anyone watch Ross play and be happy with the pick? Its even sadder considering he was suppose to be a "safe" pick without much ceiling and he looks lost. Wish we somehow were able to draft Waiters or Barnes.......... or even Lamb for that matter.

People forget that we drafted Ross because BC thought he was going to sign Nash. So not only does BC wastes 23 million on Landry, he also wasted a top 10 pick on Ross.

BC should be fired, and the team blown up except for JV. Trade even Lowry if he's not committed to the rebuild and start from scratch.

Whats even more sad is it looks like BC himself doesn't care anymore. He's been here too long for someone thats achieved nothing. Treadmill should get replaced in the dictionary with BC's face

I feel bad for JV being in a poisonous environment like this it's sad to see him be apart of
an embarrassment of a franchise like this.

Im really surprised that many people voted no. I cant think of one good reason why he should stay.
