Hansbrough is redundant with Blatche and Hayes is still on the team.

I've thought of doing something like that but 2 problems.

1) why give up max cap space next summer for Blatche?

2) if Blatche wanted a 2 year deal at that price why wouldn't the nets retain him? They are in tax so taking Hansbrough results in them paying 6.6 million instead of just his 3.3 salary.

Blatche is still getting paid a TON of money by the Wizards. His salary this year and every year is 8.5M. Whatever he gets from the team that signs him is subtracted from the 8.5M that Washington has to pay him.

That's what he did with Brooklyn last year: he said **** the Wizards (his ****ing of teams isn't new) and signed for something like 1M, in order to **** the Wiz, but he still made 8.5M.

His Wiz contract is still active at 8.5M per. If he's satisfied with that figure, you could try to convince him to again sign for a low salary (2M?), as he'll still be getting paid his 8.5 million.

That is, if you want him. He's already publicly said **** them to the last 2 teams he's played for.

As to cap space, next year and the year after are the big ones. So no long-term deals.

Next year, target Kawhi Leonard with a max. If/when the Spurs match, go after Millsap at around 12.5 per. Then try to make a big splash in 2016, when the cap is expected to balloon to 75-80M. Problem is that everybody will have cap space.

actually no, since blatche cleared waivers, he can double dip, he got all the money from washington, any money he earns now is just bonus on top of that. so it is in his best interest to get the most money, to add on top of money from washington. you dont get to double dip if picked on waivers like boozer will be.

Wow! Jackpot! Or make that, BLATCHE-pot!!

That's one helluva nice loophole in the CBA. A guy is so undesirable that a team amnesties him, i.e. they pay him to LEAVE, and then he can get a SECOND salary from another team desperate enough to take on him and his baggage. Wow. God bless North America and the (sort of) free labor/labour market.

Thanks for always keeping this thread updated. It's my go-to after each signing. Would've been nice to add another big (Okafor/Blatche) up front, but this looks to be set. I'm pretty happy with what we'll be running with.

It def helps that we pay our two main players less than 20 mill a year combined.

thank you. I dont 100% trust ESPN's trade machine but because i used it for Patterson i will use it for GV until i see otherwise.

The OP has been updated to reflect that number.

no problem, glad you enjoy it. I agree, i would love to add a backup C but doesnt seem likely at this point, unless you ship Hansbrough off to a team wanting a big man.

True man but unfortunately, I don't see any takers. I like Hans' hustle/grit but kind of wish we hadn't picked up his PO in retrospect. We could've used that money towards a better backup now. Bebe's encouraging but can't see him contributing more than in occasional spurts next season. Nevertheless, we still gotta roll the dice and see what's in his arsenal. I know I'm opening up a can of worms but how good would Noel from Philly look here? One can only dream!

I think Masai kept him for a couple of reasons.

1) Pattersons' uncertainty. If he got a big offer not worth matching, Masai could allow Hans to backup Amir.
2) Hes a productive big man that you likely wouldnt get for 2.3 million (he had a 1 million guarantee)
3) He knew he had value around the league

ive suggested something like Hansbrough + Cash (cover the difference) for Turiaf + S&T Hummel (waived) numerous times. Where we get a backup C, Minnesota has Pek & Dieng there and could use an actual backup PF. Im hoping that something like that comes to fruition.

Indy found out that Hands was cheap and productive. Replacing him with Scola added nothing but cost more. Not a huge fan but he can get points and rack up fouls in limited usage and points per dollar is good. He is also probably easily moved, cheap and expiring, so paying 33% of his salary for nothing is more wasteful.

We are right up against the tax now. All 3 combined make $17mill, so we'd be well below the tax, but still have very little cap room. Certainly not enough to sign a big name FA or a max player.

Think he's talking about next year when they expire. We should have max space next summer.

Oh ok that makes more sense then. Do we know the projected cap numbers for the 2015-2016 season?
