Dont think the pacers pick will rise higher than 20th but the Clippers/OKC pick might be 30th.

So might be picking 30,31 back to back.

Yup thats a pretty terrible return, might as well have been 2 first round picks and a second.

The second round talent we see today would be first round talent 5-10 years ago. The influx of talent is directly correlated with the advancement of social media and technology.

Our front office is good at drafting we we are going to likely pick junior or seniors who can fit in Darko's offense and contribute immediately. I can see a project with the 6th if we retain it but that player will probably won't be a project.

I would guess we're going with Salaun if he doesn't rise the ranks as much as you would expect him too. I would prefer Ivisic, European centers with his fluidity generally have a low fail rate.

Ya, looking at the 2000 and 2002 draft, yikes.

Ivisic is like he could be 7'2" version for Nikola Jovic.

This is a bit of a moot point. You can look at the videos from the 70s/80s and say that the 2nd rounders from 2000 would be top 10 picks in earlier decades.

That’s just how it goes.

That’s just how it goes.

It use to be 20-30 years, now it's 10, and it could potentially be 5 with how much parity there is in the draft now.

Don't love the decision to trade our frp for Poeltl but there are a few plausible answers for your question:

1. The FO believes that talent in this year's draft has a flatter curve (ex. there's not a significant drop off between pick 7-15 and picks 15-30). Likely why we acquired 3 picks between 15-31 this year. This would also explain the top-6 protection as opposed to top 10 or otherwise.
2. International scouting is usually secondary to North America for most teams, there's a chance that the relative strength of the international class this year become apparent more recently.
3. The FO believes that this draft is devoid of talent with superstar/all-star potential at the top of the draft, but that there is a better crop of solid NBA role-players, again would be an explanation for trading away the potential higher pick in favour of acquiring 3 middling picks.

Would also like to point out where Masai's previous draft successes were selected in the draft:

Pascal Siakam - 27th Pick
OG Anunoby - 23rd Pick
Fred VanVleet - Undrafted
Scottie Barnes - 4th Pick
Jakob Poeltl - 9th Pick
Norman Powell - 46th Pick
Delon Wright - 20th Pick

Apart from Scottie who was part of a heavily touted, top-heavy draft class, most of our major successes come from late firsts and seconds.

Pacers blow a 15 point lead and lose to the Knicks without Randle and OG

Refs tried to save the Pacers but still wasn’t enough

What happened to Hali? If he was playing to end the game the result might have been different.
