The best trade partners are out there but if I were the league I wouldn't want that, they desperately need to keep (and add) some talent out East. They want both sides of the country tapped in.

Nah they aren't going to be relevant regardless. They will just look for the best package along with Giannis's team preferences

I don't think so - they will be rebuilding regardless of who they trade with, so won't matter which conference they trade him to from a competitive perspective

Quickly, Agbaji, Ingram, Giannis, Jak

You need glasses. OKC and Houston can easily outbid that

Jalen/Chet/Amen/Sengun > Scottie as centerpiece
better young talent fillers from both teams
better and more picks from both teams

didnt think people need it laid out so clearly but here we are.

The only way we win is if we get a top 2 pick and offer it along w/ scottie

If we get the 1st pick we enter the Flagg era but if not...pick 2-4 + Scottie + RJ is the best package out there. That is a rebuild stimulus package for the Bucks. A 7-10 pick might not be enough though.

I know it's Giannis, but that seems like a hefty price to pay, especially given where we were this season

Giannis
Ingram
Quickley

Is that really a contending team?

Scottie stays. Our number 1 prized prospect is JaKobe and we might have to let him go. Future DPOY Shead too unfortunately.

Over the past 30 or so years, there are only 2 times a 30-ish win team got a Top 3 player in the league that wasn't homegrown and went on to win a championship within, let's say...2 years of acquiring them since Giannis is under contract for 2 years (He has a player option for his 3rd year). They happened under very unique circumstances, be it in how the were acquired or how the team was able to build around them. Both of them involved the team who won getting the #1 overall pick the year said player came their way, oddly enough.

2016: LeBron returned to Cleveland (33 wins) in free agency in 2014 to fulfill his childhood ambitions of bringing a title to Cleveland. The team he returned to not only won the #1 overall pick the year but had wonn it 3 years in a row. The one they got in 2014 was traded for Kevin Love along with some other assets the Cavs had acquired as part of their rebuild. Did I mention they got LeBron essentially for free and that they had developed one of those #1 overall picks into Kyrie Irving? Put mildly, this is a very unique circumstance due to the birth place of the player in question and the Cavs experiencing extraordinary luck. Remember: The pick that got them Kyrie wasn't theirs, it was the Clippers - and it had a roughly 2% chance of being #1.

1999: The Spurs won the 1997 lottery after losing David Robinson to injury (20 wins) and won out on drafting Tim Duncan. Once again, a very unique circumstance - even moreso if you remember this was a lockout season - since they literally had an MVP winner on the roster as is in Robinson and lucked out in getting to conscript a generational talent in Timothy Theodore Duncan.

The only other similar example of such a turnaround is the 08 Celtics, where they went from 24 wins to 66 wins after forming the first modern Big 3 when they added KG and Ray Allen in a single offseason. That said, while Kevin Garnett was great in 2007 and remained great in that championship year, I would hesitate to label him as a Top 3 player in the league that season - Top 5-10 for sure - and he wasn't the only star added in the offseason, something which is incredibly difficult to do in today's NBA when one compares what KG and Ray cost. It's also worth mentioning that this Celtics team was not particularly deep and as we've seen over the past several championships, depth matters more than ever so this sort of teambuilding doesn't really work any more i.e. look at the Suns.

We were (self-imposedly) pushed into a corner with that deal, and everyone knew it, especially after we traded OG it was clear what direction we were going, so the return was less that expected. Plus, there did not appear to be a bidding war to trade for an expiring Siakam as most contenders were either set, or had no use for him at the time. OTOH, Giannis is getting paid $58m per for 2 more years plus a player option. While injuries and age-related downfall of the Bucks are a pressure, they're not immediately pressed to move Giannis. They could wait a year, they could wait 2 years. For $11m more than Siakam with cost controlled certainty for at least 2 years, for a player who's a perennial MVP candidate, the value is way, way higher .

Fact is, there's an exponential premium typically paid for the super top tier guys because they're the difference between contending, and being a second round team like the Pacers. This premium typically goes up if there's a bidding war, which I would expect to exist for Giannis.

That's why we can't send out less that what he's worth, because the market presumably will be way more robust.

While I hear your reasoning, I don’t necessarily agree.

The moment Giannis asks out is when his value falls off a cliff. That is a scenario I can see happening. Sadly, Dame’s Achilles injury is a huge stumbling block to Giannis staying in Milwaukee. It’s going to be a whole lot like the Greek Olympic team in Milwaukee next season, in my estimation. Consider that Brook Lopez is expiring, and they traded both Middleton and Jrue. They have basically zero mid-tier contracts, and none of their youth is worth building around. Giannis (and Dame) are their two significant chips to press reset on their organization. Doc Rivers has to go.

I can see all that happening sooner rather than later.

It's all dependent on how quickly Horst can come to that realization, and whether or not the organization will green light such a trade. Horst doesn't strike me as the type of guy to give up when there's even a sliver of a path forward (see all previous Bucks trades lol).
MIL is in some deep doodoo long term, that's for sure.

But even if Giannis did ask out, I don't think it actually drops the offer values that much. Any sensible playoff team other than OKC and maybe BOS/CLE should be willing to part with their future to add him, and there will be teams on the play-in cusp who would be willing to bid on him too.

If Horst trades Giannis (assuming he's even around to do that), it might be the last thing he does as GM of the Bucks, so I'd assume he'd want to pad his resume for the next job by getting everything he can for him.

Yeah those are all fair points.

Still, I think they’re unlikely to happen. If anything - right now we’re only considering a Toronto/Milwaukee trade. A third or fourth team could be involved as well.

I still feel we have one of the best reset button offers for Giannis and the bucks.
I believe in Masai.

Giannis is Masais guy I think he's finally caved in and is ready to come home. Doing Masais job by upping Scotties value to the bucks front office lol look, me and Scottie are similar
