To be fair - we were missing a key 22 minute part of our rotation with Mccaw being injured....

unfortunately can't quite do those things with Dragic and Duncan starting. more 2-3 zones, college style.

This season feels like a wasted opportunity. Who knows what happens next season.

The Nets are going to try and form a super team. If the Lakers lose I think they go hard after CP3. The Celtics will look to add for sure. Denver should be aggressive. The Clippers will go all in with Kawhi and PG on expiring contracts.

Celtics are stuck, they have no cap space. But they do have the 13th overall pick this year so I guess they can add a potentially good role player. Or make a trade packaging smart and jaylan for potentially a star if one was available.

the Celtics aren't stuck though. they have have 3 first round draft picks. they have their core of Smart Tatum Brown and Walker.

Tatum and Brown are rising stars and are super young @ 22, 23 yo. Hayward is coming off that stupid contract and can be traded as a huge expiring for a disgruntled star along with the 3 first picks.

as of right now, every team would want Brown. He's a 20ppg and shoots 40% from 3 player right now. If anything, Celtics are going to be better with Brown and Tatum going forward, both of whom have not even reached their ceilings yet.

If anything, Celtics future looks a lot brighter than the Raptors and if the Raptors fans need to worry about anything, its the Raptors right now. Siakam and potentially FVV vs Tatum and Brown. ya I rather have the Celtics players. Smart > FVV as well. Smart is a first team all defense. FVV has a lot of deflections, as Raptors fans say.

Ainge hasn't proven that he can draft well outside of the top 10. I guess Robert Williams was an okay pick.

I thought Terry Rozier was a great pick.

If they want to stick it out with their core that’s cool but the person I was talking to mentioned that the Celtics want to add a piece (assuming star piece). They can’t, they were hoping the kings sucked so they could get a higher pick but they were decent so it became a mediocre 13th. They no longer have valuable first round picks. The Memphis one has potential but with what they’ve shown this season I think Memphis is done being basement dweller.

Hayward expiring aside (for which we don’t know if they could get anything of value for) they will have most of their cap tied to Kemba Tatum and brown for the next 4 years.

But yes they could just wait it out and see if Brown becomes a star.

Celtics are already over the luxury tax level for next year, and that was on the projected cap. who knows what the new cap numbers will be. (assuming hayward opts into this 35$ million deal which is more than likely)
they are projected to be 15-20 million over the Luxury tax line, they will need to do some cap saving moves.

Yes. But he doesn't have the defensive horses. Hate to say it. Lakers in 4. 5 if the Heat are lucky.

Let's be honest, outside of the coaching, I would much rather have Boston's roster than ours! we should all feel the same way.
On paper with Milwaukee out of the way and Siakiam underperforming, this should have been a cakewalk to the NBA Finals for the Celtics. They even benefited from Simmons' injury

every year we say we rather have celtics roster/future, going on for almost a decade.

but you know what, we have the higher wining %, championship over that period.

Coaching matters. Nick Nurse would be in the NBA Finals right now with that roster.

Jaylen is a star next year. he just missed the cut as an all-star this year but he's going to the all star game next without a doubt. he's going to be in the 23-25ppg next year and possibly. he's already getting recognition as an all defensive stalwart along with his teammate Tatum.

he's pretty underrated today.

Celtics have been **** since they traded their decrepit corpse of KG and PP to Brooklyn in 2013. of course the Raptors have been better because the Celtics have been rebuilding. Raptors been trying to win the chip the last 5 years.

Brown and Tatum have just been in league 3-4 years now and haven't entered their primes yet.

coaching and talent for sure. but yes, Nurse with Celtics roster could be in the NBA finals right now. Only reason why Raptors lost is that Celtics top talent is simply better. Raptors made that series 7 games but everyone could see it was heart/experience vs better talent.

The only player that I found unlikeable was Smart and maybe Jaylen Brown at times, I found the Clippers and the Bucks alot more annoying.

Return to Toronto Raptors
