To me, them faking outrage over this situation makes me feel like the media is still disrepecting and holding the Raptors in contempt. Again where was the media outrage when Thomas or Blake was traded? Or over the years of other teams taking back deals on us? What's the difference between trading Demar now and 2 years from now? Their is an agenda here. F them.

Regular season star, Playoff dud. Time to move on, good riddance sir

I cringe when I read people say we did our franchise player dirty

Us trading DD would be like POR trading McCollum, but to casuals it's like we traded Kobe

Honestly, it shouldn't be about the trade. Just the way it seemed to have happened. And I'm guessing DD is affected by the idea of transition more than he knows. This is the first time he's got to transition as an adult with a family and all.

No. He stayed because Toronto was giving more money than anyone else, barring a sign and trade.

And the "discount" he took, still put him above what any other team was able to offer him, and was in place not because he was helping us have a cap friendly deal, it was because Masai told him straight up... Look how you don't effect the game on defense, don't pass enough, and don't hit 3s,you aren't worth the full max

Interesting Masai quote you posted. What was the source for that quote? I’d like to read that entire article...

Advice: don't bear your soul on social media. At 27 + mil/ someone else can write your cheques at any time. This is mostly ego in that he likely feels he was wrongly singled out as prime reason for playoffs shortcomings. He is right in a way in that expectations were too high for this group. If I have my choice I would rather the U.S. Media dump on us for "betrayal" than playoff choking. Either way I guess they will always flame us as a novelty act. He is going to a good situation he just will no longer be our tradable golden boy.

Did the Celtics or Clippers get this kind of bashing from other players and the media for their treatment and trading of their stars?

There's been not a single report ever that this was the conversation and why he didn't get a full max. What else do you plan on making up about Demar and his situation in Toronto?

So you admit there is no report on what transpired to convert that "discount"

But we are supposed to take the media stance that "demar took a discount for loyalty"

Okayyyy

Well if you have something to back up your claims than put it out there. Otherwise you're just doing the Trump thing of stating something as fact, doubling down on it with absolutely no evidence to back it up.

You made the claim, not me so back it up. Or go ahead and spew more BS on here that's fake with no facts behind it other than your opinion.

As I stated before, you can back up not liking Demar and his game and how this trade improves the team going forward. You can discuss his negative value based on whatever stats you want to present. There's no need to go in to character assassination mode just cause you don't like the guy's game.

Whats there to assassinate? You guys make it seem like he's Nelson Mandela. He **** played ball in a city that earned him millions and millions of dollars. He is not the only NBA player who backs a charity. He is not the only player to work on his game during the summer. The only stand out point to him is that he seem to enjoy being in Toronto and talks about it. That's it! Are everyone so desperate that if someone likes you you have to like them back?

So only a person of Nelson Mandela's ilk can have his character assassinated? Seriously, think about what your saying. Nobody is claiming Demar is Mother Theresa here. But people are making up a bunch of BS and the question begs, why are people making up stuff that has nothing to do with his basketball contributions? I have never once stated that I hate this trade, I actually love it. At the same time I can acknowledge why Demar is upset by it and why so many fans are hurt.

All I've responded to so far is a bunch of BS that's being made up that Demar is this or that and that x or y happened off the court which all of these people have absolutely no evidence to support.

Nobody is making **** up. Unless they know derozan personally I doubt anyone can be sure. Different people gets different interpretation from his actions which is all that is tangible we have on him.
While u might see that he is hurt and felt betrayed by management I see him as egotistical and immature. I am not actually making stuff up and saying he did this and that. The fact is I think it's silly to vent on social media and it doesn't do anybody any good. And while I've been told he took a discount stem from loyalty, I see it as that he accepted a hefty contract from a franchise that can offer him the most money.
This loyalty business is overblown I don't think he would have re-signed here if he didn't enjoy being here and didn't see that he would be in a good situation.

If you don't know something, then why are you stating it. Why are people claiming that Derozan is uncoachable? Why are people saying that he didn't get the max cause Masai told him he doesn't deserve it? Why are people saying that Demar hates being held accountable?

How is being hurt about being egotistical? You can have your standards about how to react on social media, doesn't mean what you think is the appropriate reaction should apply to everyone else. Demar has bared his feelings and his depression out there, it helps him cope from what we've seen.

And why shouldn't he feel upset? he committed to Toronto, he wanted to be here his whole career (and we have people making up garbage that he wanted to be here because he knew he could hide, get paid and never be held accountable -which they have nothing to back up again). He never asked to be the franchise from what we know, it was thrust upon him and he did his best. So again, why make up stuff about his intentions?

Of course he wouldnt' sign here if it wasn't a good situation, being paid a lot of money and all that stuff. Those are all factors, that doesn't mean there was no loyalty because everything he's done in the public eye has shown he was loyal to the city and franchise. Why are you so quick to dismiss his actions? You can see other things like the money aspect and the max deal but is there anything to actually question his character and loyalty? If not, again i ask the question why are these people focused on that and not the basketball reasons for this deal?

This was the point I was making by asking Mikistan for the source of his Masai quote. I knew, as did all of you he had none.

It is completely fine to have an opinion. We all do. However, trying to pass your opinion off as fact is something that all to often gets posted here.

And just because there is no evidence to refute your opinion, doesn’t make it a fact. It’s still an opinion until YOU provide actual evidence to support it.

Last point Mikistan. If you get called out on trying to pass opinion off as fact, it does not mean the person disagrees with your opinion. It’s just that they value facts as facts.

You can believe you know why Masai didn’t offer the max and state your opinion, but you would be better served using subtle words like, imo or I believe unless you are able to provide a source to back up someone else’s quote.

Oh, and could you provide a source where the media states Demar took a discount out of loyalty.

What is so loyal about him that he did in the public eye that other NBA players doesn't do?

For myself I tend to work backwards. I look at the result and I take an educated guess on someone's mindset.
When everything has pretty much worked out for derozan in Toronto: being the alpha dog in marke t all by himself; receiving a big contract; living in a place where he gets worshipped; super long leash didn't have to play defense. All things lead me to the conclusion that the advantage he gains being here is large enough that loyalty doesn't really need to factor into the decision.

Loyalty isn't something to boast about when things are going peachy returning to a team year after year of stumbling in the playoffs and getting another shot to prove your worth. Loyalty is when you get traded away from a situation that clearly isn't working and being understanding and not bad-mouthing your former team and crying on social media. That'd the standard I ahere to, and if he step outside he is no longer loyal IMO.

You may be taking this out of context. When Mikistan said: "it was because Masai told him straight up... Look how you don't effect the game on defense, don't pass enough, and don't hit 3s,you aren't worth the full max," whysoserious then questioned whether this claim was made up. Frankly, I don't recall Masai saying this either and it would be outside his character to say this IMO.

As for feeling betrayed, DeRozan said he was told outright by the Raptors that he would not be included in any Kawhi deal. You can't misinterpret something like this. Regardless of how much you make, being traded to another team is a major change for any player and his family, so I think DeRozan is within his right to call this out without being chastised for it.

Where is DD's post to thank Toronto and its fans for the past several years? None yet. Let's see how long it takes him to post a thank you.
I acknowledge and thank the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples of the Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ First Nations for allowing me to live, work and play on their unceded traditional territories.

Return to Toronto Raptors
