Obviously I can't disclose which player or the source, but for the first time I actually have solid info. The player being discussed is one of the bench players and not one of the starters.

Believe it or not, I don't care. I'm not looking for attention. Just giving you guys a heads up that something is in the works.

I hope so. We need a shot in the arm, something different.

It is my assumption that most Front offices are working on some sort of trade especially at this time of the year when teams are finalizing the opening day roster - most of these efforts will probably not bear fruit but FO will make the effort.

Malachi to the Spurs is my prediction. Spurs need a point guard prospect.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

I think the Spurs priorities this season are:

1. add 1st rounders
2. add players that will assist in the tank

I don't think Malachi is blocking anything tankwise. I think Spurs want to develop their guys and widen the prospect pool while losing. Having another point guard prospect is an ecosystem move which many tanking teams make. There are no extra pingpong balls for losing by 50 and having your young players regress.

That is pretty wild news just before the season starts. I think it makes sense to move on Flynn since Banton and Dowtin are sufficient for the bench PGs. Problem is that Flynn has such a small salary. I'd think Birch would have to be included but I doubt he has big value given his two year deal.

I don't disagree, but who on that roster would interest the Raptors? It's already a team mostly made up of rookie deals. Poeltl is probably the one guy who will be traded, but they apparently want 2-1sts for Poeltl so that isn't happening.

Malachi, Birch and whatever picks for Poeltl would be a huge upgrade for our team. And would suit the Spurs tank too.

Probably 'assist' a team in tanking by taking one of their good players for a bench player. At least I hope...

I could also see a smaller deal with Birch/Flynn for Josh Richardson. If Toronto is going to miss OPJ and Boucher for some time, we will need some shooting. JR is only 29 so he adds some shooting depth and isn't a dino like Thad.

Would love a repeat of the Thad Young deal.

Toronto Out:
Toronto First Rounder (Top 20 Protected)
Malachi Flynn
Salary

SA Out:
Jacob Poetl
SA Second Rounder

If the Raptors FO believe they can get the same quality of a player at 35 then 25 , then these are the trades to make to keep the core intact but still make an addition to the roster.

agreed.

and anyone out there reading my post is probably thinking the same. front offices are always working on moves.

the reason this is different is the source who is close to the player told someone that their schedule may be changing and they may not be in Toronto much longer. that is why I posted it.
