Joseph in foul trouble.
Scrubb playing huge minutes
Lack of ball handlers results in turnovers
Dornakemp fouls with .3 lef to send them to the FT line to win the game.

Wiggins was horrific.

To be fair, if the foul is not on Doornakemp, it is gonna be on someone else. The refs just wanted Venezuela to win at that point.

This is not the first time that South American countries ganged up on Canada in FIBA competitions. As the gringos, Canada will always have to play against the refs when playing against these Lain Americans.

Can't blame the call. That team had no business having the game tied at that stage anyway. Canada screwed up big, this is on the players. Wiggnis, though still young needed to help carry this squad today and he didn't. I really hope this is just another piece of tinder to stoke his fire cause that crap is unacceptable from a player with his talent. Canada needs to learn a lot form this and they need to come out with ruthless aggression in next years tournament becasue they may have even stiffer competition that this. Also, Tristan Thompson needs to get his ass on the court next summer they need him, bad.

Not having a secondary ball handler did hurt them since you had KO bringing the ball up when Venezula played a full court press

I'm actually going to cheer against this team when that play in tourney comes around. I'm not even sad or disappointed right now, I'm furious. I hate everything about those pathetic spineless sacks of semen. Venezuela, you can't beat freaking Venezuela with a bunch of NBA players when they're playing without some of their best? If I was there tonight I would have **** myself and then thrown my soiled boxers at the bench. If I got lucky they would hit that scrub Wiggins right in his stupid face.

I missed the game (thankfully) - why did Stauskas and Bennett only play ~15 mins ea?

Did they die?

There was literally 0.1 seconds left on that play when the "foul" was committed. Questionable call for sure considering that there was no chance a play could have been made out of it.

Unfortunately, he'll remain head coach as long as Nash is in charge. And I doubt Canada Basketball will be relieving Steve of his duties any time soon.

Every time Casey makes a questionable decision, I think of how it would be worse if we still had Triano. He makes Casey look like Red Auerbach.

I think that comes down to Triano out-coaching himself. Looking too hard at minor issues when the glaring one was just sloppy play. Stauskas missed a couple threes in a row but had some decent defensive plays (was taken out of the game after forcing a turnover playing 1 on 1), I'm not sure what happened with Bennett. I think he should have just weathered the storm but instead he adjusted line-ups and started having Olynyk play PG.

So TL:DR

Canada called with a foul with 0.1 seconds left.

During the last free throw the "3 seconds" shows 30 seconds on the clock... than 25... than 0... in what seemed like 0.3 seconds.

Definitely fishy to me.

LeafsRule67 wrote:So happy I decided to watch the Jays game instead. At least Canada still has a shot to make the Olympics next year. We should dominate with Wiggins getting another year of development and hopefully Tristan Thompson on the team.

If we can't handle pressure situations like this and beat a team like Venezuela or an older Argentinian team how do you expect to beat all the top Euro teams. Tristan won't put us over the top, Murray will probably skip, we will still have inexperienced players like Lyles it will be essentially the same team. Also, we have to worry about locker room issues/politics coming from such a terrible loss. Is Triano still the coach for us? or should we go out and get a foreign coach?

Doorknob is done with this team. Honestly, Triano should have played Sacre more in the final game for size and rebounding.

People calling for Triano's head, but what's the alternative?

He's the best coach there is that I know is available. Only other coach that I hear from people at CB that's better is Mike MacKay but I don't think he coaches anymore.

Laugh at me all you can, but if you watched the last FIBA American tournament and this one, you know these South Americans are out there to get Canada.

Well I say **** them, and **** their "kill the gringo" mentality. They can wallow in the **** that their countries are.
