Of course she closed down her account. Why would she willingly set herself up to be creeped by anywhere from tens to thousands of young boys who think it's hilarious to mock her, tease her, make propositions to her, make jokes about her, assess her hotness and who knows what else? She was doomed the moment her writings were posted here, even though some sensible voices tried to stem the inevitable tide of intrusive and aggressive personal commentary.
Guys, it's one thing to make locker room jokes in a locker room - and basically realgm is a locker room or sports bar or living room for talking basketball and occasionally cracking wise and admiring women. But people should know the difference between shooting the **** with friends and showing up as a very large group of guys on a stranger's doorstep and acting disrespectfully. That's crappy behaviour whether it is online or off and in an ideal world we as a community would not do that. Unfortunately, this is the internet, as many have pointed out, so it is not surprising that this happened, but it doesn't excuse our community for collectively creeping someone out and ruining their pastime.
I don't even get the sense that people disliked or disrespected the writing itself. I think on some level even those who were sort of stunned and repelled also appreciated that it was well done and done by a dedicated fan. How much better for all it would have been if we had had our laughs, but also made a point of saying "good work, we're enjoying it, thanks" rather than making comments about gangbanging and whatnot.
Anyway, flossechocolate you did the right thing. We enjoyed your writing. Good luck...
