Re: phantom calls for the big names
I'm glad that the Raptors won the game. I didn't have a beef against the Pierce and one but I was annoyed at the "loose ball foul" on Garnett. Garnett was not in any position to win that rebound at all, imo. He was no boxing out, he was not right in front of it.
That call kept the Nets in the game for a few more possessions.

So one bad call? That's unbelievable bias and an embarrassment to the game?
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

That's not the point.
But since you asked the answer is YES I absolutely would. The best team should win period. Missed calls are acceptable of course, but it is the pattern of corruption that bothers me as a fan of the game.

Re: Update: The BIASED referee calling against the Raptors
Reffing was not bad tonight against Toronto.
- KG sets illegal screens all the time, they havent called it for years, they arent going to start now.
- I did think Deron fouled Amir when he made the dunk but maybe i saw it wrong
Other than that, could you really nit-pick a single event that changed the outcome because of the reffing? Saturday it was the blatant Pierce travel. Today, i couldnt see one. Pierce maybe getting the And-1 but it did look like a bit of a foul on Patterson (reputation obviously plays a factor there). Dont forget though i thought Derozan got lucky with a call vs AK. Where he baited him into jumping and AK went straight up, yet AK was called for a foul.

do you know how many ppl are still salty about the 2002 wcf between the lakers and sacramento. do you think they were all either sac or la fans?
The point is that this blatant bias is ruining the game..... professional wrestling for a long time had a very tight grip on the innerworkings of their bogus sport......Not anymore, but ppl still watch it.
NBA is obviously not that bad.....But it will reach a point where the "league-approved" biased calls will be called out openly.......
Mark cuban knows this. He's challenged stern to change this growing image of the NBA. I think the league is finally accepting this as well..... Refs arent blatant about their bias calls anymore....
Ppl on this board keep showing an equal # of fouls on both teams as proof that there is no hatchet job by the refs......This is just proof of how far ppl will go to avoid accepting what is taking place right in front of their eyes!!!

Raptors sloppy play was more to blame than the refs for the Nets' run in the third.

Late in the 4th quarter where the game is decided:
1. Deron DID foul Amir pretty hard on that dunk. When you watch it in slow motion it's an obvious call.
2. KG set an illegal screen to free up Joe Johnson late in the game and he intentionally elbowed Fields resulting in an easy Joe Johnson layup.
3. The Landry Fields foul on KG was an awful call.
4. Pierce and-one was garbage, there was minimal contact (if any) on the play.
Those four foul calls had the potential to decide the game in the Nets favour but fortunately for us Pierce couldn't get a three to go down.
The AK foul on DeRozan you speak of was pretty weak but Kirilenko did bite on the pump fake and DeRozan went up into him. There were also some questionable non calls with Lowry driving into the crowd a couple of times and not getting the call.

I like your vision man, I agree with everything you said. Patterson did hit Pierce on the arm, a lot of people think he didn't foul him but he did. Amir did get fouled by Deron, its the fact that it was Amir Johnson he didn't get that and 1 call. Again, this is where the Superstar calls come in. Lastly, DeRozan did get away with a call on Kirilenko. I remember seeing that play and smiling to myself thinking I can't believe the Raptors finally got away with one. However, the way the refs officiate this game during the crucial moments you kind of forget about plays like this.

Nets are reaching on every possession. If Raptor fight through it foul calls will come.

1. I dont know about "hard", i think you could have called a foul but i will have to watch it again
2. KG has been doing that for years. Thats my point. The refs havent called it and arent going to start calling it. Every screen set is illegal. Every screen, his feet are more than a shoulder width apart yet no call. Thats just KG and IMO nothing you can do about it because it hasnt been called for years.
3. They were both going for the ball, i agree its a play on but again reputation plays a factor. I can see how the ref called a foul there, it wasnt a blatantly bad call like saturday with the Pierce travel.
4. I agree that shouldnt have been a foul but he did get hit (although weak), KG and Pierce have the reputation. Nothing you can do, Lebron, Durant would get the same call.

did the same thing when AK was called for that foul. The Brooklyn bench was in disarray. Superstar calls arent going to go away, the problem i have is when blatant calls are missed (ie the Pierce travel on saturday) that end up deciding the outcome. The calls Pierce & KG got will happen twice as much with Lebron, Wade & Bosh.

Yeah, I never saw the Brooklyn bench reaction but I don't blame them. I think the Pierce travel that didn't get called definitely hurt the Raptors, but I still think the Raptors would've lost that game. Pierce caught fire those last couple of minutes. The Raptors weren't mentally or physically ready to defeat Brooklyn in game 1. I agree, Lebron, Wade, and Bosh would all get twice as many calls compared to Pierce and Garnett. That's why I don't understand when Charles Barkley says were a better matchup against the Heat compared to Brooklyn.

Re: Update: The BIASED referee calling against the Raptors
I apologize for the crummy image quality, it's courtesy of Rogers in case you're wondering.
This is the closest point of contact between Patterson and Pierce on the and-one play:

Pretty weak call.
Kevin Garnett takes two steps backwards and has his elbow in Fields' chest on this play:

Two violations here, a moving screen and an intentional elbow. No call and results in Johnson getting an uncontested layup.
Amir dunk near the end of the game. Deron Williams is holding Amir's arm in this screencap:

No call at a critical point in the game.
I could dig up a few more but I'm feeling lazy at the moment. Those three plays all happened in the last minute of play with the game on the line. If you are going to give Pierce an and-one for that weak play, you have to give it to Amir too.

The Fields rebound foul and the no call on Amir are just inexcusable and embarrassing
The NBA will forever have a black eye when it comes to officiating.
It's a damn shame
