this is the last play of the game.... uh does it look like Doornecamp pushes Wiggins out of position for the rebound? Wiggin went flying behind the backboard lol

Canada got served by the fiba refs. That's a brutal call :banghead:

If the Dragic's are playing, they will still be tough to beat. Goran can destroy us by himself.

But up front they're weak. Lorbek is gone. When Slokar is a starter, you're in trouble.

Bargnani and Belinelli are feminin pansies and Gallinari is made of glass. Your economy is crap, your government is corrupt and under the thumb of organized crime. If it weren't for tourism from the art and architecture of hundreds of years ago, your country would be a complete anchor to the EU. Now go away.

He'll go down with a season ending injury 20 games into the season because his soft Italian body can't handle the NBA.

The more I think about it, and if any changes are going to be made I'm going to say CB (Nash & Barrett) is going to give Rana a chance. He already has a relationship with their main players; Wiggins, Bennett, Ennis, TT, and upcoming guys like Murray and Lyles from the JMNT and Hoop Summit. And he's taking a sabbatical leave from Ryerson currently to work for some NBA teams I believe if I'm not wrong. I mean, the NBA experience he's about to gain is going to help him.

What makes you think they will never hire a non-Canadian? I am not disagreeing with you, I am just curious.

We have in soccer, and many (most?) countries have in basketball. What makes Canada basketball so different?

In other news, no upsets at EuroBasket today. Latvia, Greece, Spain and France are through to the quarter finals.
Tomorrow the last 4 QF spots will be decided. Croatia vs. Czech, Israel vs. Italy, Serbia vs. Finland, and Lithuania vs. Georgia.

Top 2 automatically make Olympics, and 3 through 7 get spots in last chance tournaments.

I work on the Women's side for CB and it's based on what I heard. Look at the SWNT, they have a far better track record in FIBA and they continually stuck with a CIS coach when they easily could've hired someone with better credentials than Lisa. Of course things could change, but I highly doubt it. Like I said last night, if Hasan is still active around here maybe he could confirm this?

I'm reading this Final Olympic Qualifier Tournament. I'm confused and can't make any sense of it. Is it one big tournament of 18 teams and the top 3 go to Rio? Because it seem to me that their are three different tournament and the winners of those tournament move on.

I don't know how anyone who has even a modicum of understanding of FIBA basketball can't walk away impressed with Canada. The team basically had basically no time at all to work together, and was easily the most dominant team in point differential in a tournament that featured 3 teams, some of which have players that have been on the team for over a decade, ranked in the top 20. There's no way Argentina would have won a final against Canada, especially if Thompson is there. Let's be real. They would have been smashed. **** happens in one game elimination formats. It just does. Luis Scola isn't going to go off for 35 points in 20 minutes every game. By the time 2016 rolls around, Wiggins is going to be the best player on the court against EVERY team besides America. Thompson is most likely going to be the best frontcourt player in 90% of matchups. Barring injury, this team will qualify for Rio, and WILL be a podium team. Folks are overrating the **** out of the European teams.

I don't think most of this should fall on Triano's shoulders. The Canadian player came out from the start like they couldn't care less while Venezuela brought the Thunder and took it to them. A blind toddeler could have coached Canada to a win yesterday because that team is THAT SUPERIOR to Venezuela. They have far better talent. Youth and experience should have been neglible factors because Canada is that much better. Yet Canada came out like this

Venezuela came out like this

The Canadian players should know better. Hopefully that was the last time they do that. This should be an extreme lesson, you decide to suit up for your country, you damn well better lay it all on the line. How a team that has been a joke, finally gets a shot to show their worth still comes out and dinks around like that is beyond me but they need to get some fire. After team USA embarrassed themselves year ago they changed their whole mentality around. They have been ruthless ever since. Its Canada's turn and it should start tonight.

Please don't make excuses for this team, that loss was unacceptable and completely avoidable. How incompetent do Jack and Leo feel after their guarantee of victory? What a joke.

Dan Shulman and Leo Rautins work really well, much better than Matty D or Wacko Jacko.

Still important for Canada to get this bronze and walk away with some hardware. This may be the last time they will ever be in a position to even grab bronze. No way they will be in this position again. Liking how aggressive Wiggins is tonight, the one thing I do like him is when he has a bad game or does poorly he's pretty good at turning it up after.
