sunny wrote:i wasnt saying anything to pick on you or the other posters, but many people on here will say things along the lines of

OK HERE IS MY LIST

player x
player y
player z

i've found that these are usually just people mixing their opinion of different mocks on other sites, but adding their personal conjectures on players they like/dont like, while keeping the same relative framework. It's good to scout prospects now, but to rank them I don't think makes a lot of sense (for people who arent extremely into it and dont know all of the players).

I can tell you that I dont watch euroleague and aside from kanter, I have never seen the other guys play. No matter what i've read, I cannot rank/judge these guys and compare them to others.

As I follow Arizona basketball moreso than I follow the raptors, im very aware and involved (i involve myself, not that im actually a part of it) on following the top recruits in highschool and as a result, get to know about a lot of these guys before the college game transforms them.

Another thing is, rivals/espn/scout ranking services are beyond terrible, and should not be used as a barometer at all outside of the top 10. The guys making the rankings hardly watch anything, are extremely bias and really out of their element. There are much better sources available.

I see what you're saying and I don't think anyone on this board is a real scout (as far as I know); however, you should expect that in a tanking year like this people are going to be very excited about the draft and they are going to pick their favourites.

I've done it and right now my favourites are Irving/P Jones/T Jones/Barnes/Kanter. I can tell you right now that outside of Irving and Barnes I hadn't seen much footage of any of the other guys before this NCAA season but since the season started I've seen quite a few games of all of them minus Kanter. Even with Kanter I've only seen highlights and not actual game tape.

So what I do is I take what I see and compare it to what guys like Chad Ford and Givony are saying, I also rely on the broadcasters during games and even other posters on this board. After everything those are my picks. Did I pick the top 5 players in the draft? Who knows and we probably won't know for a quite a few years but as a fan those are my picks.

Even if everyone waited till after the tourney I'm certain you wouldn't get a consensus 1 - 5 from everyone on this board. Hell, I don't think you'd get a consensus 1-5 on draft day by NBA teams. That's why guys like Davis drop in the draft or why guys like Westbrook are taken well before the expert predictions. It's just not an exact science and projecting how a player will look 4 or 5 years down the road is extremely difficult and involves a ton of guess work.

Ha ha. He's going to have to average 20 on good %s here on out if he wants to crack the top 5.

I think even right now he's still considered a top 5 talent "potential", some GMs will take a risk at him in top 5 if he declares this year. I remember Demar's stock coming into the season dropped dramatically because of poor first half, even after he avg. 19 pts in the final 7 games (http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/players/81118) he's still not drafted in top 5

Lists right now are just personal preferences, suggestive of things in a guy's game fans think might make the prospect worthy of our pick.

Those lists will change because most of these players are now in conference play, a month away from conference playoffs and then March madness. As the competition gets more intense, some of the players who have been producing nice numbers are going to raise doubts about their real ceiling. Others might solidify the positive opinions they have created to date.

And still others will intrude into the discussion, and we'll see if people with their lists are just wedded to their choices or have the stones to make adjustments.

Right now, my list is

Irving - we should know in 10 days if he'll play again this season, if he needs surgery, he's out of the draft.

Barnes - I am praying his performance against NC State carries over to some real opponents, like Duke whom UNC faces twice in Feb.

Jones - probably the Lamar Odom of the next decade, which is not bad, but not what I'd really like to see.

Valanciunas - I've explained why I think he's going to be a special big man.

TJones - By second choice at SF, but aside from Sullinger, all my positional second choices are about equal (which makes him my BPA here.)
2019 will never be forgotten because FLAGS FLY FOREVER

Baylor game got snowed out....

Im watching/Taping the Kentucky game right now T. Jones looking pretty good.....

I really do like his grittiness/toughness and he brings a lot of things the Raptors lack....

His 3 point shooting is a work in progress so pairing him up with DeRozan might not be
an ideal pairing,

I've got the Rogers Sports package....

If you got it then its channel 432 on Rogers....

T. Jone looks good going left struggled a bit going right....

One sequence he tried a fancy dribble got blocked then turned the Ball over....

A few plays later T. Jones and a player from Ole Miss start chirping at each other crowd
gets into it but nothing happens.

Next time down the floor an Old Miss Player (not sure if its the one he was beefing with)
goes one on one with him. T. Jones swats the ball in his face Ole Miss player gets it back
goes to the 3 point line and jacks up a 3 then T. Jones goes and swats him again into the 3rd row.

Coming back from commercial ESPN shows a quote Callipari said of T. Jones how he believes
he should be the best player in the country and hes gonna get on him to be the best player
in the country and that he has all the tools to do everything on the floor.

ESPN commentators also giving T. Jones a lot of praise....

T. Jones also showing some promising passing skills this game with a back to basket game...

T. Jones tried to shoot an NBA 3 and airballed it badly...

Ole Miss Crowd gave him the business....

Next time he had a touch crowd still chanted Air Ball....

He missed a layup but follwed it up with the bucket....

Hes got 11 at halftime
