its not about running over the bucks... the point was it looked like the bucks had our number. we were getting shut down and we had no answer for it. again, its not about panicking... the series couldve easily been 3-0 with the way the bucks controlled all those games... the one we won in toronto was so close, they had 2 wide open 3s at the end of that game that may have killed all our hopes but fortunately they missed both... again, after seeing how the bucks were dominating the whole series, sid was definitely not overreacting...

Wow, reading the Bucks PG and they thought we won it because of the refs. Yet absolutely no mention of how Giannis is able to murder people on defense and get away with it.

And offense. The guy is an off-armming offensive foul machine and he never gets called.

That's like common logic though, as a player you shouldn't need a coach to tell you to make a cross court pass to the weak side; to mitigate the defense overloading the strong side. It's the only way to get the defense to move, rotate and cause breakdowns; which we exploited tonight.
I don't think it's as simple as that. Crosscourt passes are always risky no matter what. Almost all players besides the Ball brothers were taught to never make them because of how low risk low reward they are. If you're making a crosscourt pass there's a lot of time for it to be intercepted because you're almost always throwing it overhead, which gives defenders plenty of time to close out on it even if they don't end up stealing it. It's not a play that yields a lot of reward.
However the way that we utilized it was just to stretch out the defense, nothing more than that, and it worked brilliantly.
Yeah, definitely. Obviously, it's not a pass to be made for the sake of making a pass. When the opportunity is their to hit an open teammate on the weak side, you take advantage of it. LeBron does it all the time, it's a risky pass when it's lobbed over the defense and in the air too long.

I remember a couple years ago some twitter study was done on fanbases. By far the biggest raptor fanbases were located in the GTA obviously, then Montreal, then the Atlantic.
Yeah there has always been a great basketball culture in the Maritimes, especially Halifax but also parts of New Brunswick that have a close relationship with the New England states.

Ibaka and Powell really set the tone of this game in the 1st quarter. They're combined production:
18pts on 7/11 FGA, 4Rbs, 4Asts, 3Blks, 2Stls.
They really made the game so much easier for every other Raptor last night.

That was the best team game I've seen the Raptors play in a while. So little ISO ball. Such a beauty to watch!

Obviously he was overreacting and does in fact look like a fool. I said in that thread I hope the Raps make him eat those words and they have. I hope it tastes like ass because Sid was being an ass.

The problem I had with the team after the first 3 games, and the problem I still have with the team was the fact that the Raptors were not mentally ready for playoff basketball -- yet again.
Being a veteran team was supposed to mean something. Having playoff/ECF experience was supposed to mean something. Olympic experience was supposed to mean something. Continuity was supposed to mean something. And yet the Raptors came out lethargic and completely **** the bed in the second half of game 1, barely scraped by in game 2 because they got hot from deep and the Bucks missed some open looks, and then didn't even show up to game 3. And that's not to take anything away from the Bucks. They played really well. But the Raptors were and are the better team and should have been able to at least put forward the effort needed to demonstrate that in the first 3 games.
This wasn't the same as getting blown out in games 1 and 2 against Cleveland in the ECF. Cleveland was clearly the better team there. But to be the higher seeded team and get blown out by the Bucks and to be able to only hit 7 field goals in a half TWICE IN THREE GAMES is just not acceptable.
It wasn't the fact that the Raps were down 2-1 in the series, if they'd lost both games 1 and 3 but put forward solid efforts both times and it was just that Milwaukee got hot from deep or that Giannis turned into LeBron junior or whatever, then you would not have observed nearly the level of panic or frustration on this board and in the media that you saw.
This team was supposed to at least compete with Cleveland this year. Not necessarily beat them, but be more competitive than we were last year. After the first three playoff games, there were absolutely zero signs that they were at all ready to do so.
I'm encouraged by last night, and hopefully the Raps can build on this momentum going into Milwaukee for game 6. But after their performance in the first three games, the Raptors absolutely deserved every word that was written or spoken about them based on their atrocious play.
