We will definitely trade picks if it means we add a player who will be part of the core. Dragic's contract is the only chance to add a potential significant piece to the core 5 without trading one of the core 5 since we will be capped out regardless.

Now i agree that we will definitely not trade a pick for a rental.

Not this year. Just dont see it happening since they wont be starting.

Likely we go after bench help and find value on the cheap

Agreed. Can't rule it out.

Raps should hold all their key assets and 1st rounders for when an actual star wants out.

Trading 1sts for a bench guy or just a solid starter doesn't move the needle enough.

I wonder how much Eric Gordon will cost? If he's relatively cheap, I think he'd be a good add for this roster.

Does this guard need to be at least 6'8" with a 7+ foot wingspan?

Remember pj Tucker cost us 2 srps. We should be aiming for something in that price range... We are somewhat stocked with srps

6th man is a pretty big role....basically a starter off the bench

East is too tight not to do something. Aside from that from games back, no teams scare us and we can play with anyone.

At the very least i see us movimg dragic then just getting help via buyout market

Not really lol. Receiving team can re-up him and in this case use MLE.

cant use MLE or cap space or anything else to resign Jalen smith, the rule is in place from stopping teams and agents from gaming the system. suns/raptors will have a HARD cap on $4.6 mil

from the athletic/john hollinger

"The Suns are limited to re-signing Smith for more than the declined option: $4,670,160. They can’t pay more than that, even if they have the cap room to do so. That, obviously, makes it very easy for a rival team to bid higher. Additionally, the declined option is basically radioactive: Any new team acquiring Smith this year would be affected by the same rule. Thus, the Suns can’t get anything useful for Smith in a trade because the acquiring team would likely lose him after the season. (Unless he played badly, in which case, who cares.)

This screams ownership being cheap. I would still go after him if price was cheap as it will be knowing this.

Why? If Raptors want him, then they can't go for him cause he'll go with another team that offers him more than 4.6. It only makes sense to go for him in FA.

If MBJ was actually desireable, he wouldn't be tradeable. Hard no, unless he comes with another (but positive) asset for Dragic and a second.

Actually, I think the problems of salary and roster spot matching and tax threshold ducking make any Bagley trade impossible for us. But ... we don't want him anyway.

So this is probably why I ultimately wouldn’t trade for Turner, you just don’t want that in the locker room especially with big minutes being tight as is. Not saying he’s a bad dude, or a problem, or even wrong - I just don’t know that you risk bringing that attitude into what we’re building.

Lebron would be a pretty good add.

Wasn't there a rumour a while back that Marvin Bagley was available for a 2nd round pick?

Whoever trades for him, it's mostly to audition and have his bird rights. I think that makes him unwanted by the Raps.
