Very cool. thank you.
From the first few minutes I have watched, it looks like he is playing SG.
I will be curious to hear your opinion on how he is plays and how he progresses through the season.

I'll be most curious to follow Pangos, Hanlan and Khem Birch on how they fair in Europe.
Birch I have high expectations for - I really think he is an NBA level player.
He put up 21pts 16rbs and 20pts and 19rbs in two preseason game last week. Pretty good for a 40 minute game. However, I am not sure the level of competition.
Pangos has started well too. Starting PG for Gran Canaria and leading scorer in preseason.

Re Levon Kendall, I guess he is taking the season off (from Gran Canaria) to spend time with his infant son who is sick and is receiving radiation treatment in Seattle.
I had no idea.

Been hearing Fran Fraschilla hyping up Harvard. I think they have a solid squad as well. I'm not sure if he'll get playing time, but I'm looking forward to Cory Johnson more so than Egi. First saw him at the BioSteel All Canadian game and he was lighting it up. Dude is a sharpshooter. Can't believe you guys are sleeping on him here. Don't think Poyser is that great.
Yup. He's got a bit of Devin Booker to him, better athelte than he gets credit for.
I don't see it with Jaylen Poysner either, his jumpshot looks like it's going to break down on the next level.

Is Sim Bhullar playing anywhere? I cant find anything.
Not sure it matters much - but keeping in mind how me may need to stretch deep into the talent pool beyond 2016 he could be useful at some point.
I'd be in China by now with a $1M/year contract if I was 7'5. His window of opportunity is pretty slim
, he should make his money asap instead of wasting his time in the D-League.

Yeah, he should play for a Chinese team closer to the India border. I'm sure he'd have a following.

I'm fairly certain that the Chinese basketball league has all its teams in the Eastern part of China. The part of China that borders India is Tibet, which is fairly removed from the rest of China culturally. With Tibet and the Himalayan mountain range, as well as the population in both countries, China and India aren't your typical border countries the way most other border countries are. The spill-over marketing probably wouldn't have any effect.

Euroleague starts today. Hanlan will make his debut tomorrow though. So far, in Lithuanian league, he is averaging 9 points.

UK released their combine measurements recently... Interesting measurements for Jamal Murray.

The good: 39.5" Vertical
The bad: 6'4 with Shoes

take these numbers with a grain of salt, a ton of guys cheat their standing reaches to pump up their vertical numbers.
6'4 without shoes but only an 8'1 standing reach? Cmon Jamal I see what you're doing.

according to draft express 6'3 guys on average have a 8'4 standing reach, so I think Jamal is fibbing a little bit.

Yeah, that happens, but measurements are a tough game. Regardless, Jamal has good size to be a combo guard. Pretty sure that T Ross was 6'7" in shoes w 8'4.5" standing reach. Might be wrong, too lazy to look.

That's a pretty dumb thing to do in my opinion. I think in this day and age standing reach is a much more important measurement.

Thanks.
I have been out of the loop the last couple of weeks. Has anyone been following how our top guys have been doing in early season action?

Looks like Hanlan played well. 4 guys on the Lithuanian national team he outscored. Should be a much better experience than what Deandre Daniels got in Australia.

Well, I am Lithuanian, so I am aware how Hanlan is doing. Hes been pretty adequate, I don't see NBA material in him, but he might be a decent role player at FIBA tournaments somewhere down the line. Hit one really clutch 3 today to seal victory in Poland.
He is not starting. His team happened to buy a starting PG from Lithuanian national team, and a starting SG from very same national team, so its tough for him to compete with these guys right now. But he did finished the close game today. Zalgiris coach went really small with 2 Lithuanian guards and Hanlan on the court.

Thanks for the Hanlan info. Its too bad re the playing time. I hope it picks up.
I just took a quick look through the stats of some other guys. Looks like Pangos, Heslip, Rautins, and Kris Joseph are each either starting or getting significant rotation minutes for their respective clubs (as expected).
I also see that Mo Walker is off to a decent start (Italian league). I think he has a shot to be on the qualifying team for the 2019 Worlds (maybe competing with Bachynski, Birch and Bhullar?)

totally agree, but don't tell these kids that.
but on the other hand I don't blame them, seen lottery talents with giant standing reaches like CLint Capela and Rudy Gobert drop in the draft because of sub par verticals.

Agreed. Vertical is more for the fans to gawk at. I get that jumping is still a big part of the game, but how high you can touch is more important than how far your feet get off the floor, yet it rarely gets mentioned.

So Canada is not bidding on hosting a Qualifier - not good for our chances.
http://www.thestar.com/sports/basketball/2015/09/30/canada-basketball-wont-bid-on-olympic-qualifying-tournament.html
I hear Philippines and Serbia are looking to host. Italy and Mexico have officially applied to host.
Either way we are going to be in the same draw as one, if not two, of France, Serbia, Greece and Italy. Gonna be tough and the Americas was clearly our best shot.
