Anyone know why Barton is a 2nd rounder? He's just thin, but has good height and solid numbers.

Will Barton was a top 10 recruit, struggled as a frosh then had a pretty monstrous sophomore year, posting a 116 ortg (A smidgen better than Lamb and Waiters and well ahead of Barnes, Ross and MKG and Beal (though these guys were freshman) using 25% of possessions.

He put up 18 pts, 8 boards, 3 assists 1.5 Steals and almost a block a game on a pretty damn great 58% True Shooting rate. He posted decent but not overpowering steals, blocks, FT rate, hit 55% of his 2's and was a really good offensive rebounder, which are probably the best stats we have to measure athleticism. He's 6'6 with a 6'9.5 wingspan, which is really good size for a 2-guard. He hit 34.5 percent of his 3 pointers, which is average.

D is hard to gauge, but he played 35 minutes a game for a team that Kenpom has at 12th in Adjusted D and nobody else on the team average over 5 boards or a block and a half per game, so i''m guessing they must have played pretty good perimeter D to be that good defensively.

High School hype and a great sophomore year make me think he should be a high teens or low 20's pick, but he looks like he might well be available when the Raptors pick. If they don't get Lamb or Beal in the 1st round he seems like a really nice option to challenge DeRozan, who most of us like, but hasn't played anywhere near the level of a starter on a playoff team.

The downside with him would probably be that Memphis pushed the ball a lot, so maybe his offensive looks were pretty good. Also, C-USA isn't exactly the Big East. Finally, Barton is 17 months older than Lamb/Barnes, so he was a junior in age, if not in experience.

Basically, he seems like he could be an average NBA 2 guard but his team needed him to rebound and he more than did that. He was a huge recruit and since Pastner just lets his team play (I saw them twice this year and they're not exactly the 2012 Spurs in terms of ball movement) and their PG was a shooter I can't really get too worked up about his weak freshman year. Seems like great value in the high 30's, right?

The other guys I like are:
-Crowder, who was just incredible this year. He did everything and did it very well, and his roided looking arms make me think him being an undersized 3 at 6'6 isn't the end of the world. Seems like a guy who will adjust to being a role player really well.

-Satoransky was apparently really impressive at the Adidas Eurocamp and he's supposed to be fluid, smart and at 6'7, that's intriguing for a guard. He wouldn't be the first 20 year old Euro guard to look just okay for his pro team and thrive in the more open NBA.
Where's the D?

We should go European on one of the picks. Stash him away oversees for a year or two.

Satoranksy I would bring over now but there are others worth stashing depending on who declares.

here's some Nemanja Nedovic highlights:

he's big, athletic, quick off the dribble and good at getting to the basket. Certainly worth considering with one of our 2nd rounders imo, his game sort of reminds me of a young Tony Parker.

I'm just hoping that somebody good slides due to medical concerns or "that guy's insane" concerns, and that our team is willing to take them. A surprising number of 2nd round gems fall into either of those categories.

What's funny is that I had lunch with Terrence Ross' agent yesterday. We talked about every possible scenario. Toronto never came up.

I just hope we package them to move up and grab Waiters or Miller (if possible)

I would be happy if we ended up with a guy who can play 10MPG a night and contribute to the rotation.

Don't want to over think this pick too much;
Get me a guy with NBA size who can be the 14th man and not look out of place for under a million bucks a season,

I would imagine one of Festus Ezeli or Fab Melo will be around if one of them falls slightly from their late 1st round status, or Henry Sims or Robert Sacre if those other don't fall.

At this point I don't even hope for a second round homerun, if we can get on base I would be thrilled.

Orlando Johnson is arguably the deadliest scorer in low-major hoops. Averaging 23.4 points and 8.0 rebounds in UCSB's games against the high-major non-conference opponents like San Diego State, Washington, BYU, Cal, and UNLV.

If Doron Lamb is on the board at 38 I don't even think you take a second to think about it, you just do it.

Machado...Then I guess you can choose between Kris Joseph or Sacre...

If Draymond Green drops to the 2nd round you take him.

Actually, I just looked at nbadraft.net and saw Khris Middleton. I'd take him in the 2nd round in a heartbeat.
