How is this fair? I'm not a Lin fan, but without the insanity the Knicks don't even make the playoffs. Now they want to bring a great PG who will take the starting job he earned lol loyalty.

This whole story is a non-issue. If the Knicks sign back Lin and Novak and JR Smith, they'll still suck. The whole Lin thing won't be the same playing every day with Carmelo Anthony. Their better bet would be to let all those guys go and just sign Nash to play a year or two with Melo and Amare. This would be their best shot to see if the Melo and Amare experiment can work.

And if a league rule is what made it so they couldn't sign Lin, they'd be off the hook to their fans.

I do think people might want to look a little closer at the details before assuming

I hope Stern's appeal fails, because you know the Knicks will re-sign all 3 and throw the full MLE at Nash. Hard to see Nash turn down that opportunity.

Taken from the Knicks board..

"I'm completely open to it," Nash said. "In some ways, it'd be great to play for the Knicks. I don't want to, you know, set off any alarm bells right now, but it'd be a great opportunity. It's a franchise I'd love to play for. It's a city I love, obviously, living here the last 10 summers…I would definitely consider it, if they had interest in me."

I would so rather see Nash in NYC. I want to see him win, and I want to see us rebuild properly. Smart Raptor fans should be for this.

I still don't see why Nash would take a huge paycut to play for NY when the market value for him from other teams will be a lot higher.

Naw they got to stick with the old rule. You MUST have the guy on contract from day 1 of the season to the last day for bird rights. If waived guys start having bird rights, ALOT of funny business between teams might start cropping up. They finally settled the trade-waive-go back fiascos, why open up another means of abuse.
