Casey: "Kyle, the coaching staff and I would really prefer it if you didn't gamble for steals so much."

Kyle: "F*** you."

Casey: *under his breath* "Fatty".

Kyle: "What'd you say?"

Casey: "Nothing."

*Kyle walks away*

So Masai needs to give Lowry that speech again.

I'm a huge fan of Lowry, but I'm with Casey on this one. If Lowry's having problems with every coach he's had in his career, then I find it really hard to be with him on this one.

But having 48 and 49 win seasons and playoffs under that tension is a major achievement. Imagine what can happen if these two are on the same page permanently.

This situation reminds me of Rafer. People said he was also a hard player to coach. Ended up starting for Rockets who had a 20+ game winning streak and for an Orlando Magic team that would've won the championship if they didn't disrupt the chemistry by allowing Jameer Nelson to play.

It's funny how people absolutely hate Lowry now, when exactly at this time of last year, people were willing to jump off a cliff if he didn't resign with Toronto.

Are you guys completely nuts?

Lowry is a VERY good player. Trade him and the team goes back into the dumpster (like it did in this playoffs without lowry playing well)

If Masai doesnt fire Casey then there is definitely no doubt that Lowry was a problem child in 2015. Maybe he came back from the all star game full of himself.

Masai is an idiot for letting this **** air publicly. Good luck getting value in a trade for Lowry now.

Casey might be the least grating coach in the NBA, or at least he comes off that way in public. I mean say what you will about him as a coach, but he seems like a stand up guy. Lowry on the other hand...

He's a hopeless malcontent though. Still hasn't gotten over daddy issues and as others have said, isn't a good enough player for the franchise to put up with this sh*t.

It's funny how everyone in this thread has jumped to conclusions. "Trade Lowry" "Get rid of em both!" "He's gone back to his headcase ways!"

RELAX

Lowry is still Lowry. Coaches and players are human beings too. We've been a perpetually sh*tty team since inception. We've successfully made the playoffs two years in a row and have record wins. Things aren't that bad. Let Ujiri do his work.

Seems like everyone here wants to fire the coach and trade all the players. For WHO???? Let the trades and firing take place at the right time and at the right place and let the GM take his time in finding the right pieces. Not everything needs to be done immediately.. it's a process and I know one thing for sure - I don't want Ujiri making rash decisions. I want to see Raps make the playoffs consistently and consecutively for the next few decades. Championships will come with time.

Good. Maybe then we'll land a real cornerstone piece like Ben Simmons or Jamal Murray who'll give us a much longer window to compete.

People here wanted talent regardless of character issues. Bad characters can still win you games, talentless players can't.

If Lowry was tanking/pouting due to Casey, then I'd give him another year under a different coach. That's not to say Lowry isn't wrong here, he deserves a lot of criticism if that's the case, but the dude was the only reason we were mildly relevant.

I don't think it's good when you let players dictate or influence decisions like this, but I also wanted Casey gone long ago too, so I'm conflicted.

Lowry in November, December and beginning of January played the best basketball of his career and came to training camp in phenomenal shape. The guy was efficient as heck, leading the league in PER, win shares...rebounding like crazy for a PG, had an extremely low turnover rate, was a leader in charges.

It's absolutely mind boggling how he diminished so rapidly and it came when Demar got back in the line up. I have no idea if it was Casey, but once Demar came back Lowry would defer to him and stopped leading the team. His shot selection became atrocious, he lost that grit, he made boneheaded decisions and high turnover games.

I love Lowry and I really believed he was the gritty bulldog we needed to lead us to the next level, but my god was he terrible in March and April.

Was it injuries or the feud with Casey? A combination of both? Who knows.

Still doesn't change the fact that Casey has been terrible with rotations and offense from the start of his tenure here.

From not holding Bargnani, Alan Anderson, Rudy Gay, Salmons, or now Lou Will accountable he repeatedly lets these 'veteran' players do whatever they want at the expense of the team.

Masai should quietly dangle him in front of other GMs and if you can get a solid return he should run with it.
