Milwauke made the pick on our behalf, that was Masais choice.
Fair. He's added one decent player and possibly 2 with 5 picks thus far. Until one is an integral part of the starting lineup though, I don't think there's any reason to be mad if the picks this year are dealt in a package for a young star IIke Cousins.

Totally agree. If you are landing Cousins everything is on the table. I think barring a big trade like Cousins, Norm, Delon, Paskal, Jakob will form our future core but sure looks like we are hoarding assets... drumroll please.

I think that's definitely part of Masai's strategy the past two drafts. Once he saw that our current core is probably here to stay, he stuck with "safe picks" to preserve whatever value he has with the few draft picks he'd have going forward. A draft pick is like a scratch card. Before you scratch it, it's worth $5. After you scratch it, it could be worth $100, or it could be worth nothing. Given what whoever we draft is not going to replace anyone in our current core, it's more important to retain future value.
Masai could have picked Skal or Davis with this year's 27th pick, but if they bust, then we'd lose the value of the pick forever. That's why he went with Siakam, someone who would, for sure, contribute
something, as opposed to maybe contributing
nothing.
The Bruno pick happened before we were considered contenders, so he was swinging for the fences with that one. But the year after that where we picked up Wright and Powell were clear indications of Masai's strategy.
