Why doesn't he look at the numbers and experiment by those merits? He got gifted a lot more than DC did (also a bad coach).

If we want to experiment get an asssitant coach that can provide experimental ideas backed by metrics.

Try OG at the 5. Boucher at the 5. Start Powell. Make Yuta the permanent back up 3, let him get comfortable and he will be a proven starter.

All of those ideas are backed by logical or strong statistics.

When NN starts Len instead of Baynes what the heck is that based off of?

He is overrated.

NN is an alright coach. I haven't seen anything from him out of the ordinary at the end of the games. That last play to Siakam is so basic.

I think most realized that when Gasol couldn't make a layup or a shot to save his life for a full season and got heavy minutes. Also ditto for Mccaw. He's a good coach but too emotional and has a hate on for some players it seems.

I think Nurse is great but the league has learned all his little tricks....the rest of the league has caught up to him.

If Dwayne Casey was the coach when Kawhi was on the team, he would of won a championship too.

Hell, even Sam Mitchell...

Lol, no. Hell, you rerun it with Nurse 10 times and he only wins maybe 2-3 at best. Turns out winning a title is very difficult.

lol it wasnt for Siakam. If it was for Siakam why would Lowry wait 4 seconds after all the back screens and cuts to make the pass to him.

that play wasn't for siakam and nurse said as much himself post game. Freddy was the primary option but the play was blown up.

This is such a terrible take its not even funny. You know they gave Doc Rivers Kawhi and PG...they choked a 3-1 lead.

So your point is completely false.

OP is a little off with his take. I don't think Nurse is a genius but he's an effective coach. It could be a mix of the personalities on the team but I don't think we've had any players gripe about playing time even though Nurse has the tendency to ignore certain players for games at a time. To me, that means Nurse communicates his expectations well and has a standard that he wants the players to abide by.

Also, while we aren't in the locker room so and don't really know what he does, it seems like Nurse is an amalgamation of a number of different coaches and styles. You can see a bit of Casey in him and you can see Phil Jackson's influence also. Style of play can be traced back to his days with Rio Grande.

All that said, OP got his wish. Yuta got playing time and to OP's credit, he did some good things out there. Although, OP pushing Yuta so hard will probably turn people against Watanabe.

Last point, although it seems like Nurse throws stuff against the wall to see if it sticks, I feel a lot of the decisions he makes are evidence-based and well informed. Theres a method to his madness.

No, you don't understand - it is Nurse's fault that Siakam's iso move consisted of a slow switch to his weak hand (allowing his man to fully reset his feet to defend the only available lane), followed up by a 2-DRIBBLE cross INTO 2 defenders with strong side help waiting at the rim, into a spinning contested fadeaway.
