Haha this just makes me think of a Better Call Saul situation; like maybe Pierce wanted out but he couldn't outright quit without losing money or a bonus in his contract with ESPN, so he did something just bad enough to get fired but not bad enough to be fired for cause. Essentially just a firing based on bad judgment for choosing to share all that on IG.

I don't think it's just as simple. You have players and media covered in masks and then to see him having parties during the pandemic is probably the reason for his dismissal.

This has nothing to do with leftism or cancel culture.

Dude recorded himself doing drugs, having fun with strippers, and inviting women over in exchange for money.

Dude was high and drunk and lacked common sense. It was just poor judgment and embarrassing for his employer. ESPN has a ton of on air personalities and had to send a message to make sure they all stay in line.

It would be like one of us behaving the same way and then our employers catching wind of it on social media. Maybe nothing illegal was done but it doesn’t meet the basic code of conduct set by employers. Given these guys have public profiles I wouldn’t even be surprised if ESPN has clauses in their contracts that give them cause to dismiss employees in instances such as these.

he did that because he knew he would be fired sooner or later i think.....there were rumours about him getting fired when ESPN restructured the basketball program by putting Steven A Smith as the main host.

You mean he couldn’t quit? Dude decided to invite his buddies and strippers, got high and drunk yet had the presence of mind to record himself due to a master plan to get fired?

Dude made $200m+ in his career. He’s just doing ESPN to stay active. The ESPN money is nothing compared to what he’s earned to date.

He just lacked common sense. He’ll likely be back on Fox Sports, NBA TV, or some other outlet before we know it.
