Kuminga has absolutely no feel for the game and is a putrid defensive rebounder. There is no chance he gets playing time in the next few years.

Superstar when teams aren't doubling him and force him into turnover machine, sure.
Unless Kuminga can process (read the play), otherwise, he is not projected as good as Siakam.

hes not projected to be as good as siakam? you do realize this kid is 18 years old  at 18 siakam wasnt in the same realm. He has flashes of crazy passes, kid has the framework of a superstar wing. Sure hes going to have major rough patches but again, hes 18 years old and very few 18 year old kids look remotely like this guy

You realized basketball IQ does not necessarily based on age?
Experience helps, but it doesn't mean he can process (read the play) and make the right pass.

experience is the biggest factor, so yes age is correlated i.e look at delano throwing stupid passes left and right his first game, look at him a few games later not making any of those.

get him into a good system and give him time in a certain role and yes, he will improve drastically.

It'll be super interesting to see Siakam, OG and Barnes all playing defense on the court.

League hasn't seen anything like that since the 2019 Sixers and Raptors.

The Raptor way is often a different top scorer every game.

5 blocks, when one probably has a bruised upper thigh, is quite enough.

I really like Banton. Is it odd that he doesn't have a contract yet? 16 bodies signed, will he be #17? Could the delay be related to holding an extra spot for 2 players coming back in a Goran trade?

Depth Chart:
PG: Fred VanVleet, Malachi Flynn, Goran Dragic
SG: Gary Trent Jr, Ishmail Wainright, David Johnson (two-way)
SF: OG Anunoby, Scottie Barnes, Yuta Watanabe, Justin Champagnie (two-way)
PF: Pascal Siakam, Chris Boucher, Sam Dekker,
C: Precious Achiuwa, Khem Birch, Freddie Gillespie,

Dragic is going to start, no way teams will trade for a 20m who is not a starting quality.
Teams who do not play their player, that player usually end up being waived, so I don't see that.
Birch is starting as well, that is the reason he signed with us instead of the Bulls.

Most likely this is our lineup:
VanVleet / Flynn / Banton
Dragic / Trent / Wainright
OG / Barnes / Watanabe
Siakam / Boucher / Dekker
Birch / Achiuwa / Gillespie

"Reading the play" is different than "making a pass".
Kuminga didn't pass it at the right time at the right place vs Banton makes the pass at the right time and right place but intercepted.
Those are different thing, and it is very hard to (learn) making the right pass (reading at that pace) than just making a pass.

Dragic will NOT start. He's a throw-in because we wanted Precious. Dragic is also injury prone...so if there is a chance you are looking to trade him this season...your best interest is to keep him from getting injured and therefore, playing him as little as possible. He's out for 3 to 4 months with whatever injury...kiss any chance at getting any value in return for him in a trade. Don't give a **** how much money he makes. He's not supposed to be a Raptor.

You don't sign Gary Trent to a bigger and longer deal than Dragic's one year salary to have him come off the bench. You don't draft Barnes so that a guy who doesn't even want to be in Toronto eats into his minutes.

If Dragic gets the Andre Iguodala treatment...which is...tell him to stay home and away from the team until a trade is made...that's probably the smartest decision.

You guys need to relax. You have any idea what Siakam would be doing in Summer League right now?

I dunno making peanut butter sandwiches with FVV on the bench?

Siakam would be clanking all his layups and missing every clutch shot.

To be fair, Siakam started playing basketball when he was 16-17 years old. Kuminga has been playing basketball his whole life.

Kuminga is clearly an excellent athlete. The problem is he doesn't have a feel for the game. He was a negative player for G-League Ignite and his shooting numbers were absolutely atrocious and unlike Scottie he wasn't a factor on the defensive end.

I'm just not sure how many players without that feel for the game end up being stars/superstars in this league. I'd imagine the odds of it happening are quite low.

That is your perspective in claiming him "not supposed to be a Raptor", but I wouldn't be surprised that is not how Ujiri and Nurse evaluate. Furthermore, that is not how team evaluate who they would trade for. Meanwhile, no team wants to trade for Iguodala back then, everyone think he was a wash, and waiting for his buyout.

For us to get more from Dragic, we better play him as a starter, otherwise, both agent and other team will see him as a buyout option at deadline (0 value).

If (might be a big one) Kuminga can shoot, he can be a star. He's actually age of a college freshman and is already one of the more impressive athletes on the court...there's a ton of potential there and yes I would get in early and trade Pascal for him and Moody (Scottie's former teammate) now if it is an option. I'd love to see what this developmental staff can do with the upside like Barnes & Kuminga...
