Already knew Morey wasn't giving up Maxey based on his comments after the trade deadline. All of the crying about lost opportunities came from Raptors fanbase.

He’s probably being overrated by this board because at the start of the year, he looked like he just picked up a basketball for the first time in his life many nights and now he’s hitting threes at a 40% clip and is one of if not THE best defensive player on this team.
And he’s 22 and in the best development system in the NBA.
As for Maxey having star potential, it’s a moot point anyway isn’t it since it doesn’t sound like we could have acquired him despite what team negative keeps insisting around here.

Precious? I don't know yet. How many guys his size guard the way he does and shoot from outside like he does? He could end up being a high-level role player or he could end up being an all-defense candidate or he may end up neither and just be a poor man's Ibaka.
Its not to say that Maxey can't exceed the Fred ceiling but thats what I see right now. Precious is more of a mystery box at this point.
He's better defensively, I'll give you that but on the offensive end I'd argue he's already better than Fred at this point. I don't think he'll ever be as good as a defender as FVV though, not to mention leadership qualities.
Maxey can really create his own shot. I think he has the potential to be one of the better offensive players in this league and if we are going on value, or returns if they are to be traded, I really don't think Precious will ever hit his level. Precious has potential to become a very good role player, Maxey has potential to be an allstar.
I think the reason why people think Precious has more potential is his athleticism, size, defense and his developing three point shooting. Maxey's potential is limited due to his size, inability to defend and run an offense. He's an undersized shooting guard that can't defend. That's often a recipe for disaster. NBA executives will take a guy like Precious over someone like Maxey for these reasons.
Do you really believe this or are you just being a good fan of this team? I don't think there is a single GM in this league that wouldn't trade Precious for Maxey straight up.

I mean, I don't want to get into all the stats and all that on a sunny Saturday morning before a big game, but I think it's fair to say the majority of NBA fans right now would give Maxey the upper hand if they were asked. I'm talking about as things currently stand today. 3 and 5 years down the line, who knows.
Maxey will be overpaid with the rookie max. Maxey is more easily replaceable than what Precious can do.

The original post suggests Precious has more "potential". So 3 to 5 years down the line is exactly what we're talking about.
In the meantime, in the game 9 days ago, Maxey outscored Precious 22 to 20, with comparable rebound and assist numbers. But Precious as a big has the unique ability to defend on the perimeter and mix it up under both rims. That's more unique, and more valuable, than a combo guard, as good a combo guard as Maxey is.
Anyway, both teams are happy with how it worked out. Sixers got George Hill for nothing (while wasting another year of Embiid's prime), and Raps got Precious. Win-win.

Precious has more potential than Maxey... seriously?

Whereas I see Precious as potential all-D player and Maxey as.....Terry Rozier maybe?

Precious has a way higher ceiling, not that Maxey isn't good...but he's only like 6 feet. There's a reason he went 21st overall.

I'm good with Achiuwa anyway, but that's just funny. We got our shooting guard and he can play both ends. And so can Achiuwa.

If we acquire Maxi, then we may not get Scottie in this timeline. I like the way things turned out.
Precious does a good job guarding Embiid and I think he's only scratched the surface of what he can do.

Maxey has been completely overrated by half of this board since the narrative that the Raptors passed on him, which was just a rumour passed off as fact.

Small SG's that put up 17ppg aren't that rare or expensive.

You need to be able to defend and/or distribute if you're an undersized guard. Maxey does neither.
Harden and Embiid dominate the ball and Maxey still gets over 4 assists per game with an A/T over 3.

I sure hope Masai wouldn't trade Precious. That would be terrible.
We wouldn't be able to find an all-defensive mobile big who can shoot 3s just in his 2nd year anywhere else.
But I hope others think so as well, so we can get away extending Precious for 60/4 or something like that after next season.

It's really as simple as he wouldn't start for us, he'd be behind GTJ and FVV.

I don't blame them, Maxey had a 7.3 WS as a 21 year old

I watch Maxey and I see shades of Fred/Sexton maybe Lowry when he hits his ceiling.

You could say the same on the other end that Precious will turn into one of the best defensive players in the league (already one of the better ones).
And how is a role player defined?
Is a role player someone getting x amount of touches?
Is a role player someone who comes off the bench?

A smallish guard who can't defend will always be exploited.
It doesn't really matter because Morey wouldn't give him up anyways, but I'd still take my chances long term with Precious. He's the type of player the NBA is trending towards.

Yeah I was going to come say the same thing. Precious is intriguing and has an interesting skillset, but ... Maxey is trending higher right now.
IDK man, people act like Maxey is an all-star. He averages 17/4/3 and shoots the 3 on low volume, is not good defensively, is not a playmaker, etc.
He is currently a poor mans FVV with some slashing.
