Pascal is our present - you can't trade him if you're hoping to compete for a chip this window (which is the only reason you'd get KD)

Scottie is our future - you can't trade him unless it makes us the favourites for the next few years (it won't).

The answer is neither. If we can get KD in a dollar for four quarters type trade, you do it. But we're not giving up our present or future to make it happen.

There is likely only 1-5 players in the league i would trade Barnes for, and that list does not include Durant.

I would say no. It's just too hard to placate KD for a significant period of time and he also has significant injury risk.

Scottie can be that #2.

I was just listening to an interview with Marks and he said Toronto is by far “the cleanest” deal to be made.
He said every other suitor for Durant gets complicated due to lack of assets and contractual issues such as the Bam/Simmons rookie contract extension rules.
He noted that the Raps have their picks, good young talent and salaries to make a deal that doesn’t over complicate things.

Where does that team rank in the east?

I'm not in favor of any player who feels he's bigger than the team he plays for. No way I'm trading away our stability as a franchise and the empowerment of a first rate front office staff for a player who will almost surely dictate how this franchise is run.

KD doesn't have a no trade clause.

Yeah but we don't trade great young pieces for him, at his age, unless he's on board with coming.

Give up Siakam and then what? Make FVV the 2nd option...lol

That team is going no where. Goal is to pair Siakam with KD

No one of KD's caliber is going to list the Toronto Raptors as a preferred trade destination. However if Nets FO ends up telling him Masai has the best offer on the table I doubt KD would be opposed to it.

Edit: Honestly, let Doug do his thing. He's not bringing any harm into the world, he's covered the team for a long time. I shouldn't make fun of him.

His past health issues don’t preclude him from criticism. It’s an awful suggestion to say the Raptors should consider levelling their team for Durant, which is what that trade would do.

Honestly, this article is so absurd, so awful, so wrong, that Doug needs to either transferred out of Sports and allowed only to write obituaries or be fired immediately for gross incompetence.

after the Gobert trade that just happened, Doug may actually end up correct on the pick compensation

OK, here's my conspiracy theory. Raps prompted Doug to write this drivel to prime the fanbase, so when a trade involving some of these pieces actually happens, it doesn't look nearly as bad. We all let out a collective "Whew!", the way I did when OG and/or Pascal didn't go out in the trade for Kawhi.

Thoughts?
