We're going to likely stick it out with this group. The only kind of deal I can see happening is Hernangomez or one of our worse prospects Banton or Flynn for a back up centre. I'm not sure how the Suns value Landale but they need forwards. It could be a landing spot for Bo Cruz.

Achiuwa(28) - Londale (10) - Koloko (10)
Siakam(35) - Boucher (13)
OG(35) - Boucher (13)
VanVleet(35) - Trent(13)
Barnes(30) - Trent(18)

Knicks swoop in with a 2 Firsts offer and they can probably have him.

For half a season and bird rights and a chance he walks, that's steep price

the assumption is Fournier is part of the trade.

Could have just signed Serge Ibaka this past summer as FA for 1.8M to be our Haslem

You tell me Scottie would talk back to Serge? Thad is soft

What a great video just for nostalgia and interesting bits. In the one game we had PJ Tucker, Serge, JV and Poeltl on the team, that was some size. In the game wear we wore the cool blue Huskies unis, our bench was at the other end from now, and Serge exited from the ramp near that end. The next clip, fight with James Johnson, our bench was at the regular current end, the Kawhi end, and JJ and Serge went out the same exit, which was crazy. I don't recall us having the other bench in the past

I’d rather just keep GTJ then. We’re gonna trade our 2nd best scorer for scraps because he MIGHT walk? Unless he said he’s for sure not re-signing here then hold onto him and take your chances.

I also saw the Terence Davis +RHJ +Matt Thomas video. My goodness how did our bench go from so deep to the utter wet toilet paper we see today (save last night)

Memphis Grizzlies
Best offer: Dillon Brooks, Ziaire Williams, draft picks
Why the Raptors do it: With the Grizzlies ready to take a leap, Toronto ships Anunoby to Memphis and snags a Canada native in Brooks as well as a former first-round pick in Williams. The Raptors also get multiple first-rounders.
Why the Raptors don't do it: Brooks would provide a perimeter scoring punch, but he's not a franchise cornerstone. Additionally, betting on Williams to reach his potential is a big gamble.

New York Knicks
Best offer: Evan Fournier, Miles McBride, draft picks
Why the Raptors do it: New York showed interest in Mitchell during the 2022 offseason, but the Knicks never pulled the trigger on a deal. The Raptors take the picks that the Jazz turned down, and they add a veteran and youngster to the roster.
Why the Raptors don't do it: Similar to the Utah situation, the big question is whether New York would be willing to include the picks that the Raptors want.

Dallas Mavericks
Best offer: Josh Green, Christian Wood, draft picks
Why the Raptors do it: Green is a young player on the rise and fills a need as a 44.4 percent 3-pointer shooter. The same goes for Wood, who has fit well in his offensive role next to Luka Doncic.
Why the Raptors don't do it: Green still has a long way to go in his development, and Wood will be a free agent this summer.

Phoenix Suns
Best offer: Jae Crowder, Cameron Johnson, draft picks
Why the Raptors do it: Crowder and Johnson have both shown that they can be part of a great rotation not only in the regular season, but also the playoffs. And if the Suns' season keeps going downhill, those picks may be more valuable than expected.
Why the Raptors don't do it: Crowder and Johnson are fine talents at forward, but they aren't elite. They will also be expecting new contracts soon.

I wouldnt do any of these. OG too valuable for those kind of packages. If people want to get desperate and pay close to what Mitchell got, different story.

Especially that Knicks deal. Real gross.

Out of curiosity, would you guys do the trade if we swapped out Ayton for CamJo? He's locked up and fills a need at center. I think the pick could be this year, but since we're in a tenuous spot that pick would need to be protected. Probably top 5 at least. We'd need filler as the caps don't match. I assume Boucher, Koloko and taking OPJ off your hands.

Three issues at hand I think:

1. Slightly conflicting timelines. Not buying in to either one, condemns us to continue to be mid-table.
2. Need for roster balancing (better rim protection and offensive spacing).
3. Trading away expiring contracts to mitigate potential loss of assets.

About 2: The need for roster balancing stems from an assumption that we should be putting Fred and Siakam in a better position to win now. Because if we simply do nothing and just wait a few years, the roster may partly balance itself out via development, e.g., Precious polishing his offense and 3pt shooting, Koloko becoming a more savvy defensive player and developing a simple yet reliable offensive toolkit down low, Dalano translating his phenomenal statistical output in the g-league to the NBA level, etc.

About 3: Trading away Trent or Fred would make sense, but finding the right dance partner and a return that makes sense, may not be easy. I'd seriously consider a Fred or Trent for Turner deal, if that ever comes in to play, but if offers are underwhelming (for instance, late 1st round picks and veterans with matching salaries), I'd consider re-signing both of them for something closer to their asking price. If needed, we could always trade them down the road.

Trent will be worth more as he progresses, plus on a long-term contract, and waiting on Fred would spare us from myopically selling low on him. Case in point: the Pelicans traded away Jrue Holiday for a neat haul from the Bucks when he was 30. Worked out well for both parties.

So you want O.G. - one of the best defenders in the league if not THE best, a better version of Mikal Bridges - plus Boucher, Koloko and OPJ, for Ayton (who looked terrible against us a few weeks ago)? No thanks!

But I may not be the best person to ask, because I don't even like Ayton. At least we know Koloko can hit 3s. At a max contract, DA's probably not what our management is looking for, or a sign and trade would have been consummated last summer.

We're not trading O.G. (unless someone offers a Gobert type deal). Of our core players, he matches Scottie's timeline the best.

I think they even showcased Fournier in the game against us. Fournier, Hartenstein, Quickly + FRP for Trent, Birch is good for me. Fournier's contract is relatively small, even though he's been awful in New York he's only 30 and Masai drafted him. If he fits in on the bench, great, they have their bench scorer/playmaker.

If they wanted to double down, this might work. GTJ needs to continue his hot streak to entice NY. Spurs get a 18-22 pick in the draft plus our 2nd rd pick.

FVV - Quickley
Barnes - Quickley
OG - (find a shooter)
Siakam - Precious (boucher traded)
Poeltl - Koloko

Still a low motor big who cant defend and way too trigger happy from 3.

Only reason he got playing time because WCJ was injured.

I get the idea behind wanting to move GTJ, but there is also the reality that he is our best shooter and shot creator, and we are already so low on that to begin with, just so hard to see us moving him for that reason, IDK
