There is the human element to this. Even if we want to resign him he may be pissed off we didn’t offer him an extension earlier and want out anyway. I think there is a 90% chance he’s traded. Why else didn’t we offer him an extension in the summer? We’ve been shopping him around this entire time which likely pisses him off.

Only comparable was us pretty much trading Lowry with that getting rescinded by the Knicks. That ended out working great for everyone afterwards even if there were hurt feelings at the time.

Us going on that massive run after the Gay trade was a big part. I actually felt if Poeltl didn't get hurt that we would have went 4-2 on this road trip and then a big run afterwards.

Just like the OG deal

Siakam to DET for Ausar + Filler + a 2028 protected first

Ausar is the guy you put on the opposing team's best player. Takes Scottie off those duties and allows him to provide defence off the ball and get his offence going. I think Ausar can develop a 3 pointer and still bring the energy, hustle and athleticism either as a starter or 6 man.

I was thinking it's more like Brett Hart and Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania...

We have just not won enough for him to be pissed off at this point: As a reminder, he is currently on a 'max deal' which he got off the winning/performing under the highest-level of pressure.
Had we gone through good playoff runs each of the last 2 seasons, that new max contract would have been offered and signed already; and he knows it

Yup. Orlando Magic

They should go for him. He then wouldn't be an expiring, he lives there in the offseason and would re-sign 100%.

banchero plays the same position and almost the same style.

With all this bs they've put Pascal through it's just ignorant/arrogant to believe he'll just return.

The FO can't take such an irresponsible risk. I'm guessing it's just posturing to just make it clear we're not taking a bag of garbage & meaningless picks just for the sake of a deal. But if I'm wrong & that is just beyond stupid & reckless.

Unfortunately that’s not how the NBA works. Your pay level is determined by your seniority and individual stats. Even if we have another bad season he’ll still get the max (from us or another team).

If a deal does get done with Indy i would want Turner over Hield. No great options in free agency that i think would choose the Raptors unless we overpay. Turner, Nesmith, Walker and filler
