Other than maybe a back-up C, the roster already has plenty of depth, which is what FA is now about -- adding depth.

Traditional Bigs: Poeltl
Jumbo Wings: Ingram, Barnes, CMB, Mogbo
Guards/Wings: Ochai, Dick, Battle
Ballhandlers: IQ, Walter, Shead, Martin

Poeltl
Barnes - CMB - Mogbo
Ingram - Ochai - Battle
Barrett - Dick - Walter - Temple
IQ - Shead - Martin

I actually think If we could drop RJ and IQ and maybe Gradey for nothing- like an amnesty- I think we’d be better off long term than what this roster currently looks like.

It’s not that they are just overpaid, it’s that finding minutes for them or showcasing them (some of them) are going to blow up the defense and you don’t get to see more of guys behind them. Guys like Ochai and Battle offer things without taking so much away. But even Walter looks buried.

The cap is now 155M. As a % of the cap, none of them are an issue right now.

% of cap:
Quickley: 20%
Barrett: 17%
Dick: 3%

Quickley's contract is flat so his % of the cap decreases every year, RJ is an expiring contract next season and Dick is on the most valuable contract in the NBA, a rookie deal. If these are the Raps worst deals, they're in good shape.

I'd say Barnes' max is the contract to watch. The new CBA forces you to make hard decisions on your core, so who you sign with your limited max slots will likely determine how successful you are. If the player doesn't play well, these contracts are almost impossible to move.

People are never gonna learn. We don't sign FAs, no one wants to come here. The FO knows this and they have no intention on being involved. These type of threads pop up every year when fans see all the exciting player movement and feel left out. It ain't happening, get used to it

We usually wait to the end and pick up some forgotten player they think might do something in a new environment

The NBA has changed. It’s not 1995 anymore. Luke Kornet is getting 41 million dollars over 4 years.

IQ’s salary stays fixed so he will take up a smaller percentage of our cap each year.

Luke Kornet is under paid but went to play with Wemby. He's worth probably just under $20 million but with the cap really he's really only was going to make at most the full MLE for 4 years.

In comparison, Hartenstein got overpaid at $30 million / year to leave NY but really he's worth closer to $20-25 million. This year he's making 28.5 and team option 3nd at 28.5.
