PG: Defensive woes

BI's offensive talent is undeniable but it's hard to say he's playing a winning brand of Basketball out there right now.

It was a big concern of mine when we got him. He's obviously very talented and has the best scoring arsenal on the team, but does he make winning plays outside of his scoring? His performances so far this season don't seem have made much of a difference.

Hopefully gets better with more reps, he hasn't played meaningful basketball in a long time.

CMB the only bright spot in this game, this kid has something about him, doesn't get rushed and plays with force, all these losses will hurt less if he continues to play this well

I don't really blame Scottie for this one, Wembanyama is the type of player who just completely shuts down scoring around the basket, it basically neutralizes his whole offensive game.

This game was lost because the Spurs shot the lights out from three due to the terrible Raptors defence that gives up a ton of open corner threes.

They made 13 threes, that's less than league average. I would say the fouling and rim protection was the much bigger issue.

Getting one offensive rebound the entire game was also ridiculous.

The Spurs shot 48% from 3, hard to win when that happens, there were a ton of wide open corner 3s given up by this Raptors defence and the Spurs made them pay for it.

I'm not a fan of deliberately putting the tying run on base with just one out. Maybe you can do that against other worse teams where there's a big talent drop off in batters, but this is the Dodgers. All it takes after the walk is one well placed single and Othani gets to third. Then all you need is a sac fly and poof, there goes the lead.

Well the D has been really bad, but he's also not creating much off his gravity. He's clearly talented as a shot maker but there's not much flow right now with how he's scoring. It's just off talent where we give it to him to make something happen.

This is sort of who Ingram has always been. No team led by him has ever gone anywhere. Scores on average efficiency. Average playmaker for his usage/role. Gets usage assists but you never feel like the offense is running all that well. Solid self-created (talent) shot making. He’s not a gravity guy. As far as #1 option on a playoff team goes he’s low on the list.

I’ve heard him categorized as a purgatory player: too good for you to really tank but not good enough to take you anywhere in the playoffs. I think people are going to see how his stats don’t translate all that much to winning.

We are hoping there is some untapped potential left there that we can help unlock. If he stays who he has been, it's not terrible given what we gave up still, but we are definitely hoping for more.

He went 10 months without playing professional basketball and has to adjust to new teammates in a system that is designed to go against his natural playing style. I’m not worried about him, I’m worried about our peremiter defence.

He's struggled against Wemby the past 3 outings, just not aggressive getting to the paint when he knows The Alien™'s going to block him.

It's been a problem with the Spurs overall for this team, they just don't look to get into the paint and it affects the defense too with how many rebound opportunities it allows against us.

The issue with the offense was the defence. When you give up 36 free throws your basically playing against a set defense all game. We dont have the personnel to play the gambling pressure defence our summer league team played.
