Dick and Walter (to give him minutes and develop). But I wouldn't be mad if it was Battle instead.

Dick and Ochai.

There's still plenty of time for Walter. Battle is what he is (I like him). Give Ochai till the trade deadline. We need to find out what we have with him. The reality is probably nothing special. If that's the case, you can try to move him and turn put in battle for this minutes.

Yeah he's still so young, I'm not giving up on him. But if we're trying to win right now, he ain't helping. So either g-league or spot minutes otherwise. Not first guy off the bench.

Totally understand that we want to win. But we're also at BEST a 2nd round team? We're not at a place where development should take a full backseat to getting every single win possible. I'd be disappointed personally if that's how they're operating.

Development will have to be done in different ways (905). If they want the team to start believing in themselves & for fans and the rest of the league to take notice, they should absolutely be trying to win every game.

I am not sure why you are capping them at the 2nd round. I am sure most fans would have never guessed that the Lowry/ Derozan Raps would make it to the ECF. I think this team has better depth and overall talent than that team. They just need to find the right mixture of role players.

I feel like Dick is already in the rotation, and I would pick him anyway, so he gets 9. He also kind of fits well with the guys named as 6-8.

Backup guard: Shead
Backup wing: Dick
Backup forward/big: CMB
Backup big: Mamu

Realistically 10 might not matter and will depend on matchups, injuries, etc., but I think Battle deserves more PT and he's the guy I'd like to see. It's even arguable that he should play over Dick in roughly the same role.

JKW and Mogbo need more time in the G-league. Maybe Lawson, but I don't see as much upside there. Some guys have to be on the roster and fill in when needed.

Ochai can be one of those guys, but he really seems like the odd man out.

I was just gonna mention this. Matchups and injuries matter a lot in these types of conversations. For example, if CMB is sidelined, I'd give Mogbo much stronger consideration given that they play a similar role.

That said, it looks like we need one more reliable true guard off the bench. Maybe Ochai finds his way, but so far he's been a weak link. Same with Walter.

We have a 3pt shooter shooting 73% from 3 and he can't find minutes.

Makes 0 sense.

Gradey is securely in the rotation, and it's bizarre he was included in this poll

Walter is securely in the rotation as well. Doesn't mean he necessarily should be. The point of the thread is to talk about that.

The 9 man rotation is set, you just don't like Gradey, which is fine.

Gradey gets almost twice as many minutes as Walter

Largely because Walter gets in foul trouble. He's almost always the 1st guy of the bench (for some strange reason).

I don't not like Gradey. Shead, Mamu and CMB clearly contribute to winning ball. Jury is still out on Dick and to a worse degree Walter.

I think when you get to 10th man, you're really just talking about a tool rather than a rotation player. Should has little to do with anything here, as these aren't season defining players. If we're struggling to unlock the paint, then Battle. If we're getting killed by a guard, then JaKobe/Ochai. None of these guys are really there to do what you want from a rotation bench player, which is to reduce the minutes of your core players.

Totally agree. And Gradey's role has been significantly impacted as a result, his leash was way too long the last couple years, largely because wins didn't matter. Now he's forced to play within the confines of his role, and I think that'll be good for him longterm

Yup. And to be clear I voted for Dick and Battle. But I still think the conversation is worth having.

To ATL point, I still think we need another big body to be that 10th guy with Battle while Walter gets reps in the g league.

I think that would be an 11th guy, then?

Top 9 of starters + Mamu, Shead, CMB, Dick

Battle in your version is 10th.

I think a big is necessary if Poeltl is going to play 60 games this year, but assuming Poeltl is playing in a game I don't see room for another big in the rotation.

Torn between Battle and Lawson.
Chose Lawson. Until he returns from 905, it's got to be Battle.
