Often times these lists put value in things that (to me at least) are irrelevant. Miami is not everyone's cup of tea and that's fine. But for that one poster to call it a third world city? You got to be kidding me. I can only assume he's a bigot who can't stand being in a city with a majority hispanic population which begs the question why he bothers to come here at all. Visit someplace more....homogeneous.

Yeah, someone who chooses Toronto over Miami is probably looking for someplace more homogeneous.

St. Louis is a baseball town, but what about those Rams? The NFL team has won only six games out of 48 the past three years, the fewest wins in football.

...weak.

St. Louis has crazy gang violence and everything outside downtown is a s*** hole.

I wake up every morning and I ask myself.....which one of these three Bosh groupies would I like to fail the most in the summer of 2010? :dontknow:

You know....just completely bomb. All this money and no one wants to play for them.

Such deep introspection yields only one viable answer......ALL OF THEM....EQUALLY!!!!

The weather and no personal state income tax are nice, but the city rates in the bottom 10% of areas when it comes to commute times, violent crime and corruption. Foreclosures hit 7.2% of homes in 2009, 10th worst in the U.S.

Bosh is a millionaire athlete, "corruption" and "commute times" won't really be affecting him. This is just a stupid thread.

Tell that to Eddy Curry.

I've been to Paris. It's a total ****, but the world wants you to believe that all the rioting and racism that goes on there is because it's so romantic. Paris is considered one of the the top two or three cities in the world, according to many reports, lists, and sources. I've been there and I hated it and now I laugh at people who insist on going to Paris like its some kind of mythical city of epic proportions, rather than a dirty tourist trap full of unspeakable poverty.

Torontonians believe that their city belongs in the same discussion as Tokyo, New York, and Paris one moment, and lament our miserable public transportation, insecure government, or extreme weather. People from Portland think their city is a charmer that will grow on you, akin to a tiny English village. People in Milwaukee find brewery tours fascinating and swear they rival being able to eat a hash-laced cookie while riding your bike to a fashion show in Amsterdam. People from Miami scoff at the high crime rate and possibly of being decimated by a hurricane and mention those beautiful gated beach houses and the girls in bikinis. If you're from Detroit, you might neglect to mention the crime and weather and will remind someone that Auburn Hills is one of the wealthiest areas in the world and that Detroit teams have a history of winning (you'd neglect to acknowledge the Lions).

Same ****, different pile. There is no definitive answer for why Bosh decides to go to Miami, or anywhere else for that matter, or even stay in Toronto. Sure, it's fun to speculate on, but to say Bosh will have a better time in Miami because it's hot, or will stay in Toronto because he owns property here, is just insane.

Heat fans didn't appreciate it when I mentioned some of the facts that Dagger has mentioned above last week.

People sometimes forget or don't realize that Toronto is a world-class city. We're fortunate to be living here even with the weather and taxes.

How is Miami as close to a third world city in N. America? I've lived in first, second and third world cities and Miami is no where near third world level. Maybe lower level first world (in some areas) but third? There are some really run down areas but plenty cities have those. Have you seen some of the areas in Philly, Baltimore, Memphis? The infrastructure and development there (Miami) is amazing. The number of canals, waterways and man made changes to the coast are world class.

The problem with Miami is that it is a major point of entry for immigrants from Latin America and the Caribbean and a lot of these people don't have plenty money so there are more poor areas (even those poor areas look better than the third world city I used to live in). But at the same time there are many rich people and world class developments.

And I live in Miami Beach and study/work in some of the poorer areas.

What Miami needs to do is solve the crime situation and solve this ridiculous traffic. Now if only Toronto had weather like Miami's and less tax, it would be near perfect.

Miami one of the worst cities in the US? Are you kidding me? All those beach honeys make up for any $$$ lost in a recession.

Some broke @$$ prolly wrote the article imo.

+1

I don't think Bosh is going to be worrying about commute times and house forclosures while he's lounging around his beach front mansion. New York and Chicago are both beautiful cities as long as you live in the right area as well.

I still think Bosh stays for alot of different reasons but these lists are things for the average Joe to consider, not millionares.

Since cities were listed as miserable due to bad weather, high taxes and commute time. I wouldn't be surprised if Toronto would have been on there too if New York made the mark. These kinds of lists are kinda stupid though, I'd imagine that most NBA cities would be perfectly enjoyable with multi million salary.

These players don't "live" in cities the way normal folk do. I was driving around North York today and I thought....have any Raps ever been in this area. Probably not. And if you're rich and living in Miami, you're high rollin, not living with the poor people.

Cleveland....if you're going to live in your own little bubble in the city, then you might as well be in a bubble that cool. Weather is the #1 thing. Then, depending on your family situation, you might want clublife, or cosmopolitan or whatever. Cleveland loses on all fronts.

Id say Toronto ranks rather high, but it's too cold for me.....and that applies to Chicago too. NY is too crowded, too massive.Portland is most livable with GSW/Bay Area next. Miami is interesting if you like Strip Clubs,Salt Lake if you like a family town.

If strip clubs is your thing then you want to be in Canada.

Anyone remember Fantasia up north on Yonge? Too bad they closed down quite a few years ago.

Actually, you'd want to be in LA because it's the closest NBA city to Tijuana.
