Since it doesn't appear anything is imminent.

Player who was told by the raps that he may be moved: Thad Young
Source: Thad Young's son plays for the MIssissauga Monarchs. Someone who works with the Monarchs told my friend.

No idea if Thad would have been part of a bigger deal or what the deal would have/could have been.

I was hoping a package of Thad with Flynn and maybe Birch could bring one significant player.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

Malachi and Thad for Crowder is almost an exact match money-wise but I don't think Crowder wants to come off the bench here anymore than with the Suns. If he agreed to come off then bench and throw another year building off this year's number onto his contract, I do it because I don't think we can depend on Otto health-wise.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

That's a good call, but I guess it doesn't make a lot of sense. Crowder is a better 3PT shooter but significantly worse than Thad at everything else and is crabby about his role. Doesn't seem like something Masai would do.

My guess is maybe his contract would be useful in a package for Clarkson. Tanking teams need to get rid of guys quickly. We saw how little Bogdanovic went for.

Clarkson makes sense to me. Especially in light of us having had interest in Brogdon.

I have a few concerns with this. One is taking on 2 million more dollars plus emptying a roster spot which means 3 million. Not sure we got the tax room, would be super tight. Also Clarkson has a player option for next year which I don't love. Lastly and maybe not as importantly, I would want Thad to end up on a team that is trying to win. I don't think there is any dirty dealings here either way however because Raps got Thad money above the taxpayer MLE which he wouldn't have likely got from any other team in free agency. Still perhaps a three way deal with Thad, Flynn to Suns, Clarkson to Raps and Crowder to Utah. Maybe Utah thinks they will get more for Crowder at the deadline from a team like Miami.

Clarkson is a tire fire defensively. Don't see the Raps having much interest unless he comes extremely cheap.

Crowder would come here and empty the clip every opportunity he got. I get the vibe that he's the type of player that thinks he's a lot better than he actually is

Thad makes sense for a team that has playoff aspirations, but he seems like he is more of a midseason move. Deal probably fell through since Thad played last night and the roster cuts were made yesterday (unless its a one for one deal).

I'd much rather go after Doug McDermott who comes with 2 years of control at a reasonable AAV.
He's exactly the type of player we need. Obviously he isn't the best defender, but offensively he'd be a terrific fit. He's one of the best 3pt shooters in the league and is a terrific slasher (i.e. easy assists for Scottie and Pascal).
In Masai We Trust :meditate:

Thad has a very attractive contract because year to fully non-guaranteed. Thad for Crowder would make sense because Phoenix was asking about Thad at the trade deadline like Toronto. Jae wants a fresh start so this could work out well.

Thad to Philly is also something that would make sense. Thad has Philly business connections and also could wrap up his career where he started. Toronto, to me should be interested in DeAnthony Melton. Stellar defender, nice athlete and solid back-up PG who can spot start.

My only thing about the news is that it's kinda underwhelming lol

Unless what's being discussed is an absolute steal, that just sounds like a minor tweak and we already looked like we're going to have much better depth going into this season. While of course, adding more certainly won't hurt, I also don't get too hyped about it because it's not likely to push us into another level of true contention. I guess my other caveat to that would be if it's for fairly decent young prospect because I'm always interested to see how much better those guys can become lol the rest to me would be kinda business as usual. Nonetheless it's always fun having new news on the team.

It is definitely underwhelming and it's a player I actually like. It's not the player everyone is speculating about over the last few pages.

That is not to say that this player isn't part of a larger deal.

If nothing comes to fruition by next week I'll disclose the player and how I found out.

Hey dgr, wondering if your source provided you with any more info on this?
